Just phoned bank and got an update for the MFiT challenge. Looking perky for this stage of the year :) Have to say though that we make a shocking average interest payment of £11.40 a day to live in my house..do need to get that heading down.

    Morning Brizzle,
That's an interesting way to present interest - just worked mine out roughly with figures from memory and its between £18-20 per day:(
Looking forward to the day we can start bringing that figure down down.
Hope you manage to keep cold at bay.

    Hi NOA..

Yes every so often like to remind myself of the amount and try and re-focus on getting MF. In fact I was talking about it to a friend last night (not too much as no one knows the extent of all our fin history and plans etc etc) and said almost in passing that we don't think we'll do any more projects on the house as we want to be MF in next few years..and they said that they thought they'd always have a mortgage. I just would find that depressing...hours of my life on here really helps me see what a padlock and chain a mortgage is. Also reminded me of how much I don't want that. I really want the ability to not worry about not working if there is no work about. OH too as there are some tensions at his work and I hate the thought of either of us being trapped. Anyway, haven't changed my mind...we are pushing on towards getting MF and building a savings buffer

Things to look forward to today:

    - haircut - can read nonsense magazines and drink good coffee :D
    - dinner with friends - being cooked for this time :)

    MSE wise:

    - have completed a PC survey
    - done a TT
    - did over 17000 steps yesterday plus two trips across town on bike :) but not sure The steps are being logged into Bounts..so need to check again

We worked hard to pay off our mortgage. It is such a relief to have the security of a paid for home. You can always remodel after its paid off.
After we had our house paid for, we bought property for rentals. We bought them one at a time and paid off the mortgage before buying another. We ended up with three and the income from rent is now part of our retirement. It was not much of a burden to pay them off as we used the monthly rent to pay the mortgage. The house had to be in good shape when we bought it as my DH is helpless when it comes to remodeling or handyman jobs. We have to hire maintenance done but have a special acct set up that part of the rent goes in every month for any thing that needs fixing, insurance and taxes.
This is just one example of what you can do when you don't have a monthly mortgage payment.:j
    Such a smmmmmart strategy!:T:T:T

Thanks mila..you're absolutely right. It'll be a huge relief when its done..although when it is, suspect we won't be getting into rentals but supporting kids and maybe scaling back paid employment :) Buy to let (rentals) here in the UK are becoming more challenging tax wise, and to make it work it seems like you need real scale, but there will still be plenty that do it.

    Onwards and upwards

Frantic day but a good one..just breathing again after doing a load of company stuff that needed formally filing ..you get the drift.. Am so behind on everything. Think I need to set aside time to do it, (as well as the dreaded accounts) but there always seems to be something else (for that read better) to do!

Hugely busy weekend but a good one. Raised money for charity which I can send off tomorrow; had lots of good times with friends, meal planner completed; decluttered (only 12 items but will update sig); YNAB'd and TT'd.

Pegged out loads over the weekend too. Love the sunny weather even though there was a chill in the air. Cycled loads and walked as much as possible. Need to do some more today though..maybe some tidying up will fix that total :D;) Heating still off. Its parky and thats making me a bit cheesed off sometimes, but think I am the only one noticing so it is staying off.

Hope everyone is good..need to catch upon diaries..seems to have been a lot of activity over the weekend :)

Sounds like a great weekend :)
Brave having the heating off, I've tried to cut down but it has been bitterly cold here despite the sunshine (or am I just getting old ...

    Have a good week :)

Yes absolutely a wind chill factor here..but I have borne it bravely.. :p (although as you have RA you need to keep warm so keep that heating on!!)

Today has been a good day - stressy but have been appreciated which always makes a difference ;)

    - TT done
    - PC survey completed..quite an interesting one
    - queried the tariff with my energy supplier..on basis that you never know!
    - pea risotto for tea with fried king prawns (using HM chilli oil) on top..was super quick, tasted lush and some left for my lunch tomorrow
    - will miss the time but OH working an extra day this week. Will try and put all the extra (after tax etc) as an OP
    - helped DD2 with homework and she is now booked onto a course which will give her a £40 Amazon voucher for her time..result. She's pretty pleased (so am I!)
    - sent out some work queries - need to keep it on track. I will try and do more on Thursday. Invoices due to be paid on Thurs. Latest client is an absolute doll re prompt payment. Love it.

Not enough exercise today..but will try and make up for it during the rest of the week

    Hope everyone is OK
