Brizzled - I've never been to an ethnic supermarket. However, on Friday, I plan on visiting a certain warehouse just off the 32 and think that around there are some good places to visit. Have you any recommendations?0

Absolutely. The absolute best in our opinion is Sweetmart on St Marks Road..close to said large store. Parking is tricky though so park in a side street and walk in. It's Easton so narrow streets and terraces. Vibrant shopping street though.
The aforementioned supermarket is where we get pulses (tinned and dry) , rice, spices, fruit juice, tins tomatoes. Frozen garlic, ginger etc is excellent and I haven't found it anywhere else.
If you want more oriental though, try Wai Yee Hong (a Bristol institution) round the back of I&ea, next to Earth Sky, a rather nice Chinese restaurant. They do have a car park, but obviously if you prefer Indian food, it's less appropriate:) I haven't been there for ages, but OH reminded me. However as we are on a MSE mission to have lentil daal at least once a week (whole family currently loving this), we tend towards Sweetmart at the moment.
If you want Italian wholesalers etc we have those too, but probably less frugal price wise.
Best of luck, let me know how you get on.MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Thank you - will give sweetmart a try.
I like the idea of the frozen garlic.0 -
Not sure how productive I have been today, feel a bit flat. Think uncertainty over job is not helping. Anyway:
- have had hair cut and coloured (although not a treat as its regular, I make sure I appreciate it every time)
- DD1 has put out 43 books for decluttering and found 2 special ones from my childhood I thought she had lost(they are not for decluttering
)
- made meatballs for dinner tonight, again with friends and have a glass of cheap Italian red by my side. Interestingly not as nice as the Aldi £4.99 one, (and this was £6.99), but still cheaper than my usual bottles and hardly a hardship
- no pegging out, but laundry all over house
- made standing list for the German discounters so we don't miss the chance to use them again if we are passing (don't want to go in and miss anything or conversely buy stuff we don't need}
- tracked down 2 dormant accounts for DD1 and have asked for details. She's worth more than I thought;)
- got my mortgage OP total..that's less, but have now added to YNAB so can track it day by day more easily
Think thats it. Hope everyone has a good weekend

Sounds like a great weekend brizzle and not unsimilar to mine - good times spent with friends at home instead of filling the pockets of local establishments:beer:CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

Sorry L, meant Lidl. It was a Cimarosa Cab Sauv which was surprisingly good.
They have just left. Great evening. Kids all played together happily too despite substantial age differencesMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal
