  • Ooh, lucky you! I was working for HMV when Beyond Skin came out, and as I was on a mixed Specialities (Jazz, Country, Blues, Soundtracks, Folk etc.) and Classical floor, I got to hear it more or less every day for a few months. Hope it was a good gig!

Minx..he was amazing. And the band and backing singers each individually so. It was all great and to be honest was a good example of where Brizzle does well. It was a Monday eve for gawds sake. I was 7 months pregnant with DD1 when I saw him last there. I like assuming her good musical taste is from what got her jumping in the womb!!

Thanks for popping by. Hope gales not too bad.

Just grabbing herbal tea after rather nice pint with OH to celebrate end of my working week..well on an early train but v easy day tomorrow at a conference :D not really work

All good here. Just need lodger to find a new room!

Shattered so in bed already. Love it. Planning to do some chores over weekend but hoping to not spend much. Might start to buy/make some Xmas presents but I do have a list in order to make sure I stick to our budget.

    Lodger moves at weekend.

    Hope everyone is good

So lounging in bed after reading some of the paper :)

So.. Some lovely but spendy things this week. Including slap up dinner on me for a fantastic mate who needs a boost. It was her birthday so just the 2 of us went out. It was great. Needed to tot up what we spent but I feel chirpy this morning which is always a good sign :o that I didn't go mad

I also hit the JL web site yesterday for some Xmas pressies and a couple of things that I had offered to buy for DD1 for her room months ago. A coupe of extras hit the basket but I am putting them under the Xmas budget in YNAB.

Present wise we are also not gifting with some friends. And most others are getting some of our HM alcoholic specialities :) I have a full blown distillery going on out the back of the house! :rotfl: have to say the toffee vodka wasn't sweet enough so I have chucked in another bag of sweets and topped up with more vodka. All the kilner jars in the house (of which there are many) have been pressed into service :D

It will generally be cheaper than most presents, but also nicer to give as we put some effort into them.

Talking of which, must speak to my DDs about what they are going to do re grandparents etc. DD studying so much bless her, but know they will love something she has crafted.

Chooks still laying which is great, just a few a week but it all helps. The one on hard moult seems better so put the broody cage away yesterday.

Off for a walk later, then pub lunch. Will be lovely but need to wrap up warm. Before I go need to meal plan...and prepare for weeks ahead. Better get a shimmy on!

    Have a great Sunday folks

    Hello

Hit a bad cold today.. Been brewing it for a while so worked from home. Much calmer without the commute and still in touch with things. Maybe I should try and do it more often.

OH back early so just waiting to serve up tea. V frugal lentil Dahl from SC, HM raita and naan too with rice. Should be good.

Checked on OP with mortgage today. Looking ok but not sure I will meet the latest MFiT goal. Still it acts as an incentive to kick on, really hope someone starts a MFiT v.4!

Had to pay back deposit for the lodger who moved out, but that's the way it goes really but £700 was a hit in the current account (it included part repayment of a part month too btw!)

Got the woodburner on and a fizzy drink in hand. Life could be much much worse!!

    Have a good evening all

Well, I guess it was money you received from the lodger in the first instance and you are comfortable you've made the right decision (I've been reading back a bit :D).

The woodburner sounds good. We have an open fire in the sitting-room but I've often fancied a woodburner in the kitchen. Don't think the chimney can take it though without an expensive re-lining.

I work from home every so often, it's nice, saves me having to tart myself up to look presentable to the rest of mankind and saves me a commute (albeit a fairly short one). These days, many people just need a laptop and a broadband connection and they can work just as well from home.

Hope your cold is better soon :).

Might be nice to have house lodger free and to yourself at Christmas perhaps?
Love the sound of your distillery and homemade specialties - full of Christmas spirit :)

Thanks for popping by folks and all the good wishes.

Hardly at deaths door, still working hard but preserving energy by not commuting so all good. As you say P&F I can do most of my work via a broadband connection and a keyboard.

So ridiculously pleased by the dahl last night. Even the girls said they loved it (despite the chillies :)) Loads left and I reckon it was around 50p a head, maybe less. Now thats what I call frugal.

Moved some money around today which always makes me feel more in control. We will miss the rent but currently enjoying freedom of it just being us. We can always go back to it and from market research think we were well under what we should have charged so thats something to think about.

Off to rummage in fridge for leftovers!

    Delish leftovers..nom nom

Leftovers too this eve - sardine fishcakes using up mash from weekend plus a salad from knackered turnips and cabbage I found in bottom of fridge. Ate with Nigella's wasabi dressing. With a separate tomato salad (reduced bag from the local greengrocer) reckon this was also a sub 50p per head meal or £2 for all of us . Yay..could get used to this!

Worked like a trojan today so now chilling for a bit. Long week ahead workwise..so need to mentally prepare!

Decluttered 10 items..mainly from kitchen. Felt good :)
