Musing musing... Think will be substantially down on income if I accept staff role but as its part time could do other things?

It's tempting to continue freelance. It's served me well so far. This is maybe my first test of resolve?

    Morning Brizzle,
Just had a quick catch up, sounds like you have some decisions to make....it's a hard one though, between security and flexibility. I have been dithering over the same decision for the last 2 years or more - am finding it hard to give up on the flexibility...

Hope you had a lovely weekend with your friends.

Hello Brizzle, just catching up with your diary. Decisions, decisions. I'm sure you'll weigh up the pros and cons to come to the right one. Your savings pots are looking good. :)

Thx both. Yes decisions indeed. So far have decided to stick it out and remember why I gave up a permie role. So I have said this and will see where it gets me (or not).

Yes savings pots looking good. V pleased although know we could have done more. We have been loosening the financial controls since we got DF - which although not in a pickle shows how hard habits are to break. We will be trying to eat out less... My wonderful DDs are doing several meals a week now which is wonderful. Really healthy ones too and they are building in confidence. It is using a box (you select preferred meals from a menu) called #ello Fresh which is an expense but seriously its so so worth it. Delivered to door with simple recipe cards and everything weighed out. They are really responding to it.

Anyway eating in more will help. Friends over next weekend and like the last, we will eat in rather than eating out which we usually would have.

    Hope everyone is good

    Hello

Bit stressed in our household this evening :( Everyone working too hard and its cold and dark...

Invoice issued. They are always late payers so hope they pay before VAT is due. Have redeemed £6 PC points via Paypal. Have also done another survey so £3 to come.

Also submitted a FiT reading so will be interesting to see what we are due there. The previous quarter's payment is due later this month :) Due to the problem with the panels it will be down on this time last year but better something than nothing.

Going to skip off and see how the MFiT thread is going and hopefully visit a few more 'virtual' chums :D

    Hope everyone is good...

  • Hi brizzled, hope this evening going a little better for you and the family!

Sounds like you've made right decision with the role to me!

Got everything crossed that the late payers surprise you with an on time payment'

I must investigate these survey thingys...everyone seems to do them on here but I've never looked into it....

    Have a lovely evening!

Aaww thanks Hazel. I hope so too. Hoping it's a good first step of resolve. It may not work out so am also keeping a Plan B open.

Woodburner on even though it was sunny today. Made such a difference to my mood. HM pizzas for tea. JO's pizza dough never disappoints and still working my way through sack of flour in larder :D Crazily though had run of out of tinned tomatoes. Do cheapie corner shop came to rescue. Never happened before :rotfl: so time for more bulk buys soon.

Some invoices paid today but the late payers will need more time. No really a problem, just hate people going beyond 30 days. Have a new email address to try and speed up prompt payment so fingers crossed Hazel!

Hope everyone has a great weekend

  • Hi brizzle

hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Thats really good that your daughters are doing quite a bit of cooking - as you say not only does it help you but builds their confidence and puts them in a good place for when they are older - i remember years ago going to a friends who was in their 20's and still lived at home and she didn't know how to cook (if thats the right word) a tin of peas :eek::eek:

Sounds like the right decision regarding your work and its always a good idea to keep your options open to xx

    Thanks guys.

Yes really important they can cook and they are quite stylish meals too so they are proud of them which helps too.

Made JO's pulled pork yesterday for a late lunch with HM coleslaw (girls did coleslaw it was lush), red cabbage etc and then apple amber for afters. It was great. we had friends round and after some necessary rugby watching they finally went home late. Lovely lovely day. very life affirming. Managed to eat in garden too! Unexpected so all the more precious.

Today have just finished my work (musing on whether I should put in an invoice as this is totally beyond what I am paid for..)and now am going to start the paperwork! Not sure I will manage 4 hours but keen to do some.

    Hows it going TC?

Well 4 hours done! Quite a slog given that I did a couple of hours of work in prep for tomorrow first. Seem to have spent all day in front of a PC. Psychologically feel million times better. Can see next steps. Have written list of outstanding issues which I can run through before I see the accountant. Lots still to do but reckon another 8 hours might do it

Hope alls good TC.. How did it go?
