Nice start to the weekend. Saw parents for a nice meal and leisurely family time. Went swimming today (£11 spent) but bagged some apples and bread as a farewell present. Love the way my dad never lets me leave the house without something!

It's fascinating the way OH is now about the money. Reconciling and being SUPER aware of where we are. He was concerned about the unbudgeted swim..but we have taken from October's family days out type money when we will be back on course again. We still went but we are justifying everything.

This month, we have spent £400 on groceries, which is a 100% increase in the original budget.... but it's £200 less than it is usually! Entertainment and meals out etc has been slashed and we have hardly had a carp month. Just shows it can be done.

Cats will need to be insured now, but have a free month promotion so will start paying in November :) Also get a discount as 2 of them.

We have booked to see a film tomorrow as a family treat. Odeon with 40% off so £17. Bit of a bargain really. We will cycle there too :)

Items just finished on Bay of E. £30 clear profit :)

You're doing so well on the excercise and money fronts. You sound so much more up-beat too. Hope you're enjoying the weekend and that your client pays soon!

  • Morning Brizzle, we got some cheap 0deon tickets too but think the kids are too grumpy for a trip today tbh so will leave it to next weekend now ;) £19 for 5 though, can't go wrong with that :T! Our grocery bill comes in at around £400 each month (this month £390 so just scraped in under) I think to eat well in this day and age costs a small fortune! We've swapped a lot of meat dishes for veggie ones to cut costs but i've also recently changed a few brands for more organic/ fair trade etc ones so the cost went up there anyway and it always seems to even out at around £400 so i've kind of given up trying to cut it! If you find a way though please let me know ;) Oooh and have you tried soapnuts? I gave up making my own washing powder in favour of them because they are so good! I got mine on @mazon, £10 for a huge bag and you use a few soapnuts in a small drawstring bag they provide and it washes your clothes just as well as powders! I was very sceptical at first but i'm totally won over and I reckon my washing clothes bill has been slashed to around £3 per month (if that!) :T you also don't need to use conditioner (although when hubby does the washing he still pours it in as he likes the smell!) :D Have a lovely day xx

    Good evening folks

Well the cinema didn't go to plan..mucked up on timings but looking forward to going next week, and have the discount still despite it being totally our fault...great customer service, thanks @deon. Still had a nice cycle there and back in the sunshine.

Apart from that, a good day. Cut up the belly pork and cooked in the SC in an oriental style sauce. Lucious with rice, spring onions and steamed broccoli. Never tried a non stew before in the SC, but it came up well.

Have done jobs around the house, garden, cleaned out chooks, tidied, ironed school uniform...oh well you know the score! Now relaxing with SCD from last night.

Thanks DFW ..I know what you mean about groceries, if you want to eat well, organic fruit and milk etc, it is hard...but £400 is such an improvement on what we spend usually. I will check out soap nuts. Have looked at them before, but was never sure. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Verbatim for dropping by and posting:) Life is pretty dandy at the moment. Much to be thankful for.

Thanks, all, for your support. It means so much :)
