Sunny today :) Having a mix of work and chores day today. Had some nice catch ups with colleagues this morning on the phone which was good..it can get lonely working from home otherwise. I think I also have a plan for the VAT too...but worried after reading Mrs PG's fine..need to make sure I know exactly what I am doing so will arrange to have a meeting with the accountant next week and ensure everything is in order.

    - YNAB all up to date. Promised payment by end of the week from one creditor. Let's hope it arrives on time.
    - kids getting through the dinner money! Realise how much it all costs effectively having 4 adults in the house. But packed lunches today. Dinner this eve is easy, fish fingers from the glut (3 packets.., how did that happen?!!) in the freezer, veg and HM potato wedges.
    - getting hair cut but that's the sole spend for today
-renewing my goal to have a £6k OP pot for the mortgage. We will have a rate rise in the next 6 mths I am sure

Enjoying the sun and relaxing. Wish life was always this uncomplicated :)

Ooh sorry to hear that. Warm here.

Frantic day spinning around, but all now done and I can collapse :) Tea was very wholesome, a savoury root vegetable crumble. Very nice too. Have never grated onion into a crumble topping before but it all worked very well. Good old Rose Elliott. Had to buy the veg, but got from the greengrocers and enough left for the Sunday dinner I need to cook at the weekend.

Even the kids liked it..after turning their noses up at the lack of visible dairy or meat!!:rotfl:

Think that's it. More income in today, which is always welcome. Plugging away at the surveys so hopefully a pay out before Xmas.

    Hope everyone is good.

  • All good. Spent eve with friends.. paid for a TA which was unexpected but fine..it just came out of the entertainment budget. We also took HM cookies and some wine. We have also done some much overdue DIY. Still more to do, but should be finished by end of weekend. I have defrosted a lentil lasagne for tea tomorrow which will make for a v easy meal :)

YNAB still great and OH reconciling every morning! Marvellous stuff. We are also setting a new target of paying off the mortgage in 7 years. Gulp. Let's see how we go!....

  • Morning Brizzle, excellent news about mortgage. I think I'll recommend DD investigates YNAB :)

    Have a fab weekend.

  • Thanks Tilly. It's daunting but exciting. It's the first time OH and I have really been able to envisage these types of goals together, and see them as achievable. It will mean compromises elsewhere but it'd be worth it and saves moving. I still hanker after that a little but wiling to give this approach a go. I suspect it will become quite addictive. YNAB certainly is, as was Tilly Tidies..that's my only downer so far on YNAB, it's a pain to do small tidying amounts amongst all the reconciliations so at the moment I don't bother.

Did a SM shop, £22 after my MOV and only really went in for the 1/2 price tuna and tins of toms. Walked out with more, but all staples eg. reduced bread, some eggs etc. Then went to our new greengrocers...we are very lucky in having several but this one is very very close and opened a few weeks ago. Nice lady serving, bought £8 worth of yummy fruit and veg, including a huge watermelon for £1.49. Yippee as DD1 loves watermelons almost more than anything!! :rotfl:

Busy busy weekend ahead. But waiting for the next appointment of the day with a cup of tea and the diaries. Bliss. :)

I gave YNAB a good try last month. Must get back to it today before we lose track again. Reading about your plans has given me the encouragement to go back to it.
