Excellent news on the car brizzled !!:j
Lovely to hear some good news.
Im sure the newly redecorated house looks lovely, a lick of paint always makes me feel better. My kitchen looks as good as new now its finally done and cost barely anything. Must admit I have the decorating bug at the moment, and as I have some paint leftover and its a nice boring neutral shade of white, I plan on getting busy with the paintbrush again in the next few weeks !:DLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Morning Brizzle :hello: just caught up with your diary! Wow its been an eventful couple of weeks
Excellent news re the car! Go you guys - won't be long now!
We had students for 2 years when we were in our last place as we had a spare room. Last year we went for it and had them for 6 weeks at Easter and then continually through the summer period. In the end doing it that intensively was too much for us - far too lazy- but we did save £1800 which we have stashed in a savings account for our trip to Brazil (will be next year now, was supposed to be this year but then saw a fantastic deal for 2 weeks in Thailand and opps oh's return to the Mother Land has been postponed again
). Reflections on it are - make soup as a starter to dinner to keep the costs down and get into a routine with the packed lunches or costs can be high and the lunches a chore! I would do it again in a heart beat but oh prefers not to
was thinking about your expenses could you get into a routine where say 8pm every Sunday you complete them ready to hand in on Monday morning?
Hope you guys are having a lovely weekend xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi guys
Lovely to hear from you all and thanks for popping by..
Have been busy for a few days with work so havent been posting as much..although I do try and keep up the discipline of the small things thread
have had a few LSDs (ouch..just read that again and I see how that could be misread..anyway you guys know what I mean!!) and am hoping for a NSD today. Going to a museum (free), back for HM soup for lunch and a sunday dinner made with a teeny tiny joint from the freezer, plenty of veg etc from fridge. I love our ice cream maker so there is always yummy sorbet or icecream (or both!) in the freezer too for afters.
I have been thinking about the money from the car too..and I need to find a way of writing down (maybe a diary?) the ideas, goals, aspirations(!!) I post on here but then forget about..like I think the way of getting most from my money (as I have the cc debt on 0%) is to put it against the mortgage and then withdraw it at the end of the year when the 0% is up..stoozing (in a way) if you like...but I was getting so carried away by the idea of clearing a debt that I forget that:rotfl: bonkers..you wouldnt believe that in 'real life' I have quite a responsible jobAnyway thats what I will do and update my sig accordingly
I have also finally sent off my insurance claim letter so fingers crossed for a speedy reimbursement.
OH and I are planning to spend 2 days at the end of the week decluttering, tidying and getting the house up together. Two of those days DDs will be at school - we can finish up the rest at the weekend. I also plan to list the ebay items and if they dont sell, do CS or Freecycle too. Have already started leaving DDs games (that they very reluctantly!) decluttered on the wall outside..most people stop to look and a few have gone already. We last did this take tome off work to spend time on house about 10 years ago... so think it'll be a good use of time :-)
Not much else to report. Life keeps on chugging on. Getting a cold which is a pain but looks like can take it more easy travel wise this week so thats a good thing
Hope everyone's having a good weekend. The sun is a good omen for our panels. Yesterday we only earned 47p..pants...but looks like today will be a bumper day though..bring it on!!

HI DNMS..thanks for that..I was busy typing as you were.
Thanks for those hints. Yes soup seems good and something we are increasingly doing as a family anyway as it helps with cost and we usually have lots of vegetables around. Healthier too. if we get our allotment properly together we will also have some veggies from that this year too..last year we had lots of beans and potatoes for example but flunked out on salad..anyway will all be good. Nice to hear it wasnt a complete pain having them to stay (and it is tax free isnt it? Do you know? ) but am sure I will be glad when the 3 weeks is up!
Youre right about expenses. part of it we use special envelopes that I never seem to have with me..I need to stash a few in my bag for when I am not in the office and then get into a routine as you suggest. Thanks
Have a great dayMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Wow, fantastic news about the car, congratulations! :j :j
Sounds like you've got a busy few days ahead, but should be good!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi jwil..yes a really lovely day. Went to the free museum ( the new one entirely about Brizzle (with lots of local stories, down by the docks) which was fab and also a tour of the Matthew in the sunshine..gorgeous. All free..except we paid £1.50 for parking and a voluntary £5 donation. Not bad for 5 of us.
Then my friend dyed my hair for me..it was looking terrible. Really good of her. So that was £5.75 for the dye and I also got some toothpaste ( cheapest) and some reduced bread. So OK not a NSD but pretty good I think.
Now cooking some tea. Sme work to do but at least dd1 has done her homework...thank the lord. And the panels did £1.47... Yay! Much better than yesterday!!

That museum does sound good, and we've been thinking about going sometime. Have a great evening!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Someone else has had their hair done this weekend ? It must be the time of the year where we all start panicking about the grey bits ! Sure it looks lovely.
Sounds like you have had a good weekend and a lovely day out with little expenditure ! Long may they continue !! Think our family day out cost a little more than yours, but we were seduced by the Haagen Dasz restaurant , and from then on there was no going back !:oLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
