Thanks :) and LOL @ Flippin36 Freezer Tetris, I know the feeling

YES I do find it hard not to go have a look, if its as cheap as I get it i'll find a way to get it in freezer

If I end up with too much, will take out one of the 1.7kg or so of pork leg I got for 12p before xmas and cook it and have for couple dinners and freeze in portions cooked.

Always a way to fit more in, though ideally need to pick up a spare freezer so can stockpile more effectively for friends and family and have better idea exactly whats in there, just aswell have afairly good memory, could probably write it down from memory lol

Looks like you have a good haul today so happy for you and everyone else, hope it continues :)

Skintmum, we got the free Titanic tickets too but have just had a look online to see how long it is and its 3 hrs and 23 mins!!! And our showing dosent start till half past 7! We wouldnt be home till 11:30 so weve decided to give it a miss :( The poor cat woudl be thinking he was abandoned!

Instead weve opted for a dominos (BOGOF on a Tues) and watch a film at home. It might seem wierd to some people but its so rare that we get a takeaway of any kind that it will be a treat for us. Got my dozen red roses sent to me at work today. Embarassing, but in a good way!

Yep that's the same as us we have just had our dinner and it's 11:58 have to say I am so proud of myself though as mac d's is just over the rd from the cinema but I did not give in and came home and had my pie I made with ys beef :D so tonight was a grand spending of £2 on the 3d glasses and 4x ys lettuce for the piggie at 10p each :D

  • missed out tonight. asda had big joints of beef down to £6 a kilo (normal price) and had 2 in the reduced chiller. one woman was hanging around when another member of staff choose some stuff for herself to be reduced (which is against the rules) they could be disciplined etc. anyway the patient woman got one then walked off. since he seemed to be reducing stuff for his colleague and the cheap dairy stuff we walked off. ended up seen off when the original cutomer
walked past us with yet another cheap joint of beef from the bottom shelf. so sometimes if you're not bold / brazen your last hehe.

  • computerfixer you really do get some fantastic bargains, the time when i get a steak reduced to 10p will be the time i know i have cracked the yellow stickers. need to look for more reduced steak, stash has nearly gone. for valentines night i took out of the freezer on monday morning sirloin and rump steak i got last week reduced. went to asd@ monday evening and they had fillet steak reduced. cooked it that night for tea for the 4 of us. last night cooked nice romantic meal for oh & me, we had sirloin and theb two boys had rump. asked small child later if he enjoyed his he replied its different from the one last night different flavour and texture i preferred last nights. expensive tastes my youngest. need reduced rib eye and sirloin now just to make sure. enjoy your day.

  • abitofhelp, yes I do get such amazing stuff at the moment, so much so im almost jelous of my freezer if thats possible lol

It has only really been this good since they re-fitted the shop about november, is only a small co-op and they used to have a shelf for reduced, now they have about increased the fresh food area but keep reductions in original place, they only take a little off it 10-30% day before so this doesnt intice me or many people to buy when its only a little more to get something a good few days date on. so I wait till next day and depending who reduces, things are normally between 10p and 40p, lol since I get so much at 10p I sometimes think 40p is expensive !!! but thats rediculous as I cooked the 2 packs of cchicken drumsticks and recovered the meat from them and have used in 3 meals so far and will do 2 more so 80p for 5 meals amd was a lot of chicken in each :)

Am definately going to be playing freezer tetris as flippin36 puts it tonight, but im on about level 6 !! Will need to take something out to fit something in tonight I think!!

Does indeed sound like your boys have aquired an expensive taste, so long as they know the fillet was a treat and not to expect it very often, I have never had a bit reduced, now im craving for a bit lol

Hope you enjoyed last night and have a good day today, would love a big ribeye steak or even better a 4 rib joint, but would have to be lucky to find that reduced somewhere.

If it werent for buying reduced I could never afford to have such nice food all the time, though would be thrifty and eat well and fairly heathily for £15-£20 a week, with sirloin steak last in my mind.

Though for last few years I have been good at getting reductions from morri and sains they arent so great now, since noticed co-op is much better for me rarely went to others. Just hope it continues for a while, though surely someone will be looking at the waste, must have been about 8 tubs of cotttage cheese, loads of bakery and some fresh custard, and a good few quiches throws out this morning, often go in and when reducing at night they put the stuff with yesterdays date on floor (doesn't scan at checkout anyway - sometimes let u have for free :) ) SOmetimes looks like a lot of waste :(

Anyway, back to work, hope everyone has great day :)
  • I'm struggling to stop buying food at the moment :o I went into Asd* with my MIL as she wanted steak I needed nothing but left with streaky bacon 75p, actimel £1.05, filled pasta 60p and french beans 50p. Only £2.90 but I didn't need it, we'll use it but I could have managed without. The bacon will go in the freezer but I have 8 packets in their already.
My MIL found loads, but she needed it.:o
I just find it all sooooo tempting....
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

I am in so much trouble with my bf when he gets in. I went to Tescos and got:

    Ready meal £2.18 to 0.79
    Bagels £1.40 to 0.35
    Quorn Sausages X2 £2.08 tp 0.55
Posh sausages £3.12 down to 0.95

& have soup I have made and need to fit in the freezer. I am so going to lost freezer tetris tonight!!!

  • tried co-op after work and no reduced yet, went home had dinner tried again about 7-30

6 packs of fresh chicken strips left so got 2 for 25p each
12 or so packs of lurpack got 2 for 19p each
1 pack of pork stir fry strips so took them 20p

2 packs of small lamb chops, some bakery and snack things all left

Dont get paid till tmrw and was spending last of what was on my current account card, wish I could access a few quid though and would have grabbed all the butter, I know it last a while and can be frozen, will use a pack in some baking on friday perhaps a nice pie. Chicken strips at 25p dont go a miss either, but have some already so no doubt will get more at some point.

Perhaps I should play my own game of not paying more than 20p for anything and that would mean I wouldn't have bought the chicken and would have more butter !! :)

I'm going to go in first thing before work as need milk for breakfast and will see whats left and going to be wasted, hope someone else gets in and gets it, if not will chance my arm on getting it tmrw, maybe for free, will let you all know.

Im going to have to remove the couple things from yesterday from their packets and into freezer bags to make way, can take out one of the chicken strips from last week and put at back of fridge for friday dinner.

It seems obvious none of you go to my local co-op, unless you are in too early.

Hope everyone has good news to report :)

@ ELEANOR73 - good luck with freezer tetris, hide the stuff u got at back or eat it before he notices ;)
  • did the tesco whoopsies tonight .....................
