Ever more people joining the challenge, good to see and hear of bargains to be had.

Went up to co-op just after 6 but was so busy and everyone finishing stacking shelves, always get a delivery on wed so must have been running late, went back in about 6-45 and guy just started reducing but a guy was filling his basket while he was reducing but he slipped me a few things and another lady so we all got some stuff.

    2 x stewing steak 20p
    1 x sirloin steak 20p

I then went over to look for other things to bo reduced and he left them, he told me if I seen anything else to give him a shout so dug out the following

    1 x lamb chops (small) 15p
    1 x 4 slice black pudding
    1 x 2 cream & raspberry turnovers 10p
    1 x 2 vanilla slices 10p
5 x ginsters chicken and mushroom slice 10p each
    6 x bags carrots 10p each
    4 x swede 10p each
2 x sherry trifle, 10p each, was a shelf full lol
    1 x whipping cream 10p

He knows ima regular bargain hunter and looks after me so was worth hanging around and telling him what I wanted, also saved him looking for todays stuff lol as I told him what was left :)

More lamb chops and chichen drums/thighs tmrw.

Making an inian thali for friends on fri so more lamb will be good and chicken too, will matrinade tmrw to cook on fri

Thinking about using the stewing steak to make beef dopiaza in slow cooker and do a lamb and a chicken dish too, not decided what yet.

    Anyway off to munch a
small chicken and mushroom coop pie from freezer 20p
one of the ginster ones from today 10p
1/3 of bag of potatoes from last weekend 10p (3p)
    few carrots 10p (2p)

35p dinners taste great, well add another 5p for a couple slices of butter and some herbs for the carrots and potatoes.

Will be busy cooking tmrw night, get the beef curry on, can re-heat on fri, get some good soup on, will prep some veg tonight so thats done, then get the the rest of meat marinading etc.

    All the best.

I know its been and gone but what was the sainsburys glitch ? free wine?

NO not free wine, what it was their meal deal had a glitch where you bought 3 starters, mains and desserts and 3 wines and it came to something silly like £11 something, I remember clearly getting 3 and was practically skipping as it had worked and then standing there with OH in tow arguing with him that seen as it had worked we need to take advantage and get more, many more:rotfl::rotfl:

You see I always do that much to my detriment, I think too much about the deal whether it is whether I should buy the whole shelf, I hum and har too much, tight finances does that and morries now they still have the yellow stickers but had upped the price ofthe reductions and I keep thinking now last month they sold this for this price and now look, is it worth it? Should I have it? Am I only buying it because it has a little bit off and now it is not even a generous bit off most of the time?

    I would be a useless gambler:rotfl:

  • Loving this thread! Dreaming of the day I can buy a chest freezer to freeze all the reduced meat. Need to find somewhere to put freezer first though..oops.
  • Hi fellow bargain hunters, looks like some of you have been very lucky - sorry I've not been around for a few days but my washing machine died on me - shame we can't get a yellow sticker reduction on them! Mind you, with the money that I've saved over the last couple of months, it's certainly helped to have a bit more money in the pot for when things like that happen.

Anyway, I went to Mr T's last night but was VERY disappointed. They usually start knocking down about 6.30 but the usual reducer wasn't there and there was no sign of anyone stepping up to take his place. Hung around for half an hour and gave up and went to Mr S instead. Was very lucky there - cream cakes reduced to 24p each, lovely vine tomatoes 45p a pack and an extra large cauliflower reduced to 45p. Just been online to see if I can freeze it so have boiled it for 3 mins, blanched in cold water and it's currently drying out before it goes in my ever expanding freezer. Was also able to pick up mackerel for 45p which my daughter will have tonight with home made wedges (reduced King Edward's, of course), a piece of coley for hubby (never tried it but will pop it in the oven and see how it goes). If he doesn't like it, the dog will surely enjoy it. I'm having a reduced quiche (25p) with home made wedges and probably we'll finish off the reduced sprouts that I got a couple of days ago for 25p.

Don't know how I'm going to cope next week when we go to our caravan which is 20 minutes from the nearest Mr S.... Only have a small freezer in the caravan so going through the freezer later today to see what I can take with me to feed the four of us for a week!

Happy shopping to all of you and hope you are successful.
  • P.S. don't know where the angry face came from on my post. Must have hit a button in error - apologies.
