Buying yellow sticker/reduced 2012 challenge

I did sainsbugs on tuesday around 6.45 and got lots of fruit and veg again but some of it was 25p and even 30p:eek: instead of our usual 20p. I got organic pears, plums, lemons, spring onions, melons, mixed salad and 1.5kg bags of King edward potatoes. I can't remember the exact prices but they were all 20p, 25p or 30p. I also managed to find a free range chicken for half price, always a good one.
I noticed on Sunday that there were a few people cruising the whoopsies but it was all quite civilized, there was only one woman who was snatching things of the trolley as the man marked them down without even a please or thank you!I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Gailey, I find my parents local waitrose particularly good for whoopsied bread & crumpets! Went in there on a weekday in the early afternoon and they had lots of 'posh' tea reduced, all twinnings & clipper :T0

Although I'm not really trying to live by yellow stickers, I am determined to get as much of my meat yellow stickered as possible. The meat I've been getting is mostly from Mr T's, as I haven't had much success in getting to Asda at the right time.
Last time I accidentally got it right.
Went just before 9 (for tissues and doughnuts LOL) and saw the poor harassed girl crouched in the chiller pricing things up surrounded by a huddle of people waiting and leaning in. I waited with my Mum, and this was my first experience of the REAL bargain hunters (there were people who are obviously regulars as they were talking about it being a bit late today). I have to say i did find it awkward cos I am crap at pushing myself in etc, but most of the people were lovely. There was a nice older, Indian lady who put so much in her trolley but offered almost everything to me first to see if I wanted it. And a lovely older man who told me to go round the side and pushed me in!So thank you, if you are reading, nice people.
Anyway, no 10p type bargains but I got stuff which made hubby most happy:
2 beef wellington £2 (was £6)
beef casserole with dumpling Just Cook set £1.75
Diced turkey (large) £1.15
Finest air dried bacon £1.10
Also got some 10p bread and rolls. Will try and remember and head back at 9pm again. Especially once I get my second freezer and can stock up.0 -
Evening all. I really need to stop now, freezers are full. Popped (have i spelt that correctly) into A*** on my way home about 5:15 no big reductions but i needed a couple of normal priced things. We then had a wander round the yellow sticker bays. No big reductions. They announced that bananas were reduced to 20p a bag and could be found at the front. I hissed to my partner to run and get me some. Then noticed people hanging around the meat etc yellow sticker bay low and behold nice young girl game out with her magic price reducing gun. Two packs of sirloin steak two packs of rump steak are now resting in my freezer. £2.50 each. If we hadnt of picked them up then they would have gone, so i have saved though i really really want a 20p steak like computerfixer gets. There was a man glaring at my partner even though he had picked up about 8 packs of steak himself. He cant be on the forum because everyone seems friendly on here. Went to fresh produce and the peppers i picked up earlier which had been reduced to £1.30 had been reduced to 20p. Two are now in the oven chopped up in a sausage casserole. Popping in tomorrow night for bakery items at about 8:30. Didnt pay for bananas in the end as there was a problem with them at the checkout and they gave them to us. 18th May- 15th June 2012 £100/£75

Hi All
After being a bit pee'd off last couple of weeks having to fight my way to the stickered items at 8.00pm in tesco, I went in this evening to get something i needed for tomorrow at 10pm (its one of those moments you sit upright in bed and think "oh shoot, i need XYZ!!!"), i popped round the the stickered sections (be rude not to) and literally got £50 worth of shopping for £5!! This bargain haul included finest smoked salmon, other salmon, chicken breasts, mince, sausages and loads of veg.
Think 10pm will be my new time to go!

Hi there I always look at for the yellow stickers and love it when you get a bargain.
Last weekend I was with mum in Morrisons, member of staff was doing further reductions, and there was this man there the poor member of staff the minute she put the sticker an item on her little trolley he would take it out of her hands, didnt even give the member of staff a chance to put the items in the fridge.
These where good such as pork medallions with sauce reduced to 69p etc.
in some respects good on him, however share the love and give some other people a chance, he got some really good food at a fraction of the orginal costIn debt but coping:j

I have used this company several times and can recommend them. They do short dated foods (as well as other household type things) and some of the things are not so short dated. Could be of use to people who are trying to stick to a tight budget. They do charge postage but I share this with family/friends so its not too bad. HTH

I have actually found there to be too much reduced food. A while back I stopped buying anything that I wouldnt normally buy as I was coming home with cakes, pies and ready meals all the time. I now am at the point where my freezer is full but I keep buying. I came home last night with 870g pack of mince for £1.95, a veggie haggis for 64p, blueberrys 74p a pack (on BOGOF in Sains and it still works on the reduced price!) and 2 packs of blueberries. Only on sunday I got 6 salmon fillets for £3, 8 sausages 49p, chicken thighs for 80ish p.
OH has now taken my card off me. We cant physically eat the amount of food we have. Its crazy! There is only 2 of us
To be fair though I made blackberry jam and blueberry muffins last night and have taken the muffins to work. Everyone else appreciates them!
Thanks so much to everyone on here for giving me the bug, its such a buzz when you get food for next to nothing. Especially if you had gone into the shop 2 hours earlier and paid 4 times the price! But, in a sulk, I realise I have to stop.......... for a few days :-)
I have this problem regularly - I've been promising my bf space in the freezer for a few things he wants to have in for convenience and everytime I make a bit of space I spot a bargain and fill it!!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
