    Thanks peachyprice!

The problem is that my husband thinks she will now re-invoice me for her time spent 'working on me' of £1500 (minus the £200 already received). This is where her £500 per hourly charge comes in, which she states she told me about in our first phonecall. I DIDNOT agree to that anywhere on the phone, via email or text!!!

She would be a fool to. You have a credit note against all but £200 of the invoice, any further correspondence just ignore. Her telling you she's racking up charges unilaterally for reading your emails certainly does not form a new contract in any way.

In the unlikely event (which I don't think will happen) that she tries to invoice for that, and you ignore it, and she takes you to court (you have to respond to court papers, so keep your folder of stuff from this time round just in case), it is another non-event and is laughed out.

    You have won.

If it is £1500 for 1.5 hours then that's £1000 per hour! :o

Ohhhhhh You are right bod1467!!! She can't even work out her own fees! It should be £750 if she charges £500 per hour NOT £1500!!!

I have been so in shock with all this to notice till you pointed it out!

    Thanks matey!

Good grief she can't even work out simple mathematics... I feel better and better the more I come on here!

Have I missed something? Are you saying the therapy was to be conducted over the phone and not in person, or have I misunderstood?

    Thanks for your input Laz123.

Well I was to have 1 to 2 phonecalls per month each for half an hour to a max of an hour. I would be paying £200 per month.

Then in June I was to pay £1000 before I saw her in person for a day.

Then we would continue on the phone like before, I'd pay another £1000 when she next told me too, and continue paying £200 till I had paid the total sum of £4,500.

The more I spell it out the more of a complete fool I feel.

When you call this time - record the call and inform her you are doing so (at the beginning even if you can't) as I would imagine this will change the way she deals with you when you do call...

    Thanks visidigi! ;)

It probably would be an amusing thing to do, but I think I'll keep ignoring her. I have heard enough b*llsh*t from that woman to last me a life time!!

It is £1000 an hour! Is Alan Sugar even close to that yet? I can't believe someone could value their time at this rate, would love to see how she came to the conclusion she was worth that much, unless she only works two hours a month! Wouldn't mind seeing her tax bill :)

Yes piglet25 you are right and so is bod1467. I've only just realised that she has worked it out all wrong and if she quotes £500 per hour being her rate and she has done 1 and a half hours 'work' on me then it should only be £750 not £1500!

She is looking sillier by the minute.

I am kicking myself for falling for it, but I know I did it when I was down in the dumps, this forum has really helped me realise I can sort myself out!
  • I can't believe that she believes she can charge for reading emails of complaint!

This would be laughed out of court within seconds.

    Cheers halibut2209.

Yes my husband said that was laughable and she couldn't do that.

She has been very quiet today, not one email or text, since I refused to speak with her yesterday after many attempts to make me talk to her. I think she is plotting her next move.

You have won. It is the first time so far that I felt close to that![/QUOTE]

You know paddyrg, I am begining to think why the hell did I get so frightened by her. She has been so unprofessional. She can certainly talk a good talk but it is all hot air, she makes up things to suit what she wants to get out of you. How do people like her sleep at night?

She is not plotting her next move, she realises she is screwed!!

If she re-invoices you then ignore the invoice - or write back saying that you would prefer this to be taken to small claims court and a judge can deem whether the things she has charged, are a fair price. She has already charged you £200.

She is making herself look very desperate, money grasping - and insane.

Someone asked - Small Claims court takes about 48 hours for the documents to get to the plaintiff. You MUST respond else they will find in her favour, you will be able to request that the hearing is held nearest to you - which means she'll have a long journey ahead of her to fight it.

She has done this before, you can pretty much guarantee this, be the first to stand up and say no.

I would also reporting her to her local Trading Standards as well as every other single Hypnotherapy body you can find to ensure she never tries to register with them.

I am having a think as to why she is VAT registered if she has several different companies? Why not spread the work over the companies and not pay any VAT and keep that money herself? It is a serious question. If she is taking in £100k, why give £20k to the VATman when you can keep it yourself by billing through separate companies? The only real reason for doing this is if you have expenses you can offset - and if she is giving phone 'therapy' she is probably on a tarriff that gives free calls so there is virtually no expenses there and reading emails, no expenses there. She is doing something else..... can someone else work out why on earth she would be VAT registered?

So she can go shopping at Makro/Costco and claim back the VAT of everything she buys there probably, plus the tax on her petrol and her gas/electricity/phone/BB. It can be quite lucrative working from home and being VAT registered.

Have you considered posting her business contact details OP?

Would be interesting for a few of us to contact this person pretending to be prospective clients and see what she says!
