Currently, when 'diagnosing connection problem' problem connection over FTP?0
-
This has happened periodically this morning but it has worked in between times. It's happening now while I'm trying to look at the speed test. My PC often cannot display a page but as soon as I run 'diagnose connection problem' nothing can be found and it rights itself. Happens a lot though.
No further with the Avast downloading so I think I'm going to have to abandon it and start again. Grrrr0 -
download & save the avast installer package (from the filehippo link) on one of your more reliable laptops, put it on a usb stick and install on the problem one from the usb stick, probably quicker and more reliable way to do it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Ok thanks will try that when son returns. Just having one last attempt. I get the connection problem over FTP whenever I try to access the speed test page. Connection on PC very intermittent today, more than usual & I don't think I did too much to it last night. It's getting me down. Thankfully ipad working well or I wouldn't be here now - & then I'd be totally stuffed!0

Could you post a fresh hijackthis log and commit charge
you could also try to download malwarebytes from filehippo, and do a full scan with that if you haven't already!!

If you've backed up your data then you may be better off simply reinstalling Windows. This will give you a fresh start.
There's probably Repair option during boot up - press F8 several times as the PC reboots and you'll likely find this menu option. This may then offer options of a repair install (keeping your data) or a clean install (wipe and reinstall), using a backup copy of Windows from a hidden partition on your hard disk.
What make of PC is it?0
