For some reason, I didn't notice your post heading, just saw "Everest Quoted £4014 do I need to say more?"
I blame it on old ageIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I used a local firm called 'SoftView'. Having asked around and spoken to a contact of mine, I was told their were a good company with a good product.
Salesman turned-up, measured-up, asked if their were any special requirements with regards to the windows (I live in a leasehold property and sometimes the lease states windows/doors need to be replace like-for-like), then told me the price.
My first reaction was 'is that before the managers discount?' to which he replied "no sir, we don't do that. In fact, I am on a salary with no commission". Never heard that from a salesman before.
Windows have a standard 25 year warranty and do exactley what they say on the tin (so to speak).
Looking to have the front door done next. Not sure if I will use the same company as I can fit a new frame and door myself.Never Knowingly Understood.

Weve just had a quote ok it was high but we expected this for a high end product. What we didnt expect was high pressure to push the finance package.. no package no discount.
Plus extras... yes after the quote when the survey was done. we find out knocking out the window to the conservaotry wasnt included !! Now at the sales rep suggestion we were having NO doors through to it so it was open plan but he failed to mention we would have to arrange that oursleves and plastering and making good oh yes anohter extra... Then we had '' oh dont worry we can get our builder to do that for cash in hand''
Yesterday more talk of why arent we having the finance package so I quoted the price for cash as quoted on the quote only to be told ... we shall see if HQ will wear it... OH WILL WE its in black and white but ... as we have found a builder to knock through and replaster he tells me OH I CAN do the whole job .... for less !!!!!!!!!!! showed me his portfolio of work and can do a ROOM Extenstion rather than a lean too conservatory... SO WE are now going with that. My advice FIND A GOOD LOCAL BUILDER sorcue your own windows to a quality YOU want and can afford... cut out the sales rep and survey .. area manager and head office staff and expensive TV advert and suddenly you can get the same or better for LESS. Also avoid the hassle of taking out finance when you pay cash you can often get a discount too.0 -
I had an Everest sales rep at my house yesterday. You could say I was suckered in with marketing. I am in the market for a new front door and four standard living room sized Windows (roughly 4x3ft) and a small 1x3 window. I was quoted £15,000!!!! This was for UPVC with a composite door. For all UPVC in their essentials range (coloured on the outside, white inside) with a UPVC door, £8905!! Both after "discount".
I nearly choked on my coffee when the prices came though. To be fair, the sales rep wasn't pushy and the Windows did seem good quality. Thing is, I have no idea exactly how much something like this should cost. I've never bought glazing before.
Can anyone give a rough ballpark figure on how much is a sensible quote??0 -
A few years ago (3?) we got all our windows and front door changed (except kitchen windows, back door, and rear patio doors) on our 3 bed semi. Cost was roughly £5.5k.
Windows were uPVC with white interior and brown exterior, and the front door was likewise in colour and was composite. This included a lead-effect pattern on the front door window insert, and a similar lead-effect pattern on the single stair window. It also included single windows in the bathroom and ensuite with frosted glass.0 -
When i was a Rep for Everest, it's a terrible job i only did it for about a year and that was over 30yrs ago. But what we were told, and sometimes told people when we were doing a 'dem', was yes probably you are paying more to have Everest than some local company. You have to compare it to buying a car, a Skoda or Lada will still get you from A to B, but people still pay more for a Audi or Mercedes ''cos they know they're getting something better.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
