I got Everest round to quote for two large bay windows (downstairs and upstairs of the same bay), and the salesman seemed almost reluctant to offer a quote as it wasn't a full house job. He did eventually say circa £20k, at which point I showed him the door.
Two local companies came the next week and quoted £2.5 and £3k - which told me everything I needed to know about Everest.0 -
Me thinks too much money spent on that stupid "you didn't expect Everest to be doing that today" advert means they have to re-coupe that via overcharging massively for jobs!0

We have recently moved into a house where the windows are about 25 years old and really need replacing. We are getting a few quotes and we stupid enough to consider getting a quote from Everest.
OMG. First if you let them into your house you better have plenty of time to waste, the dodgy salesman was here for FOUR hours and only left when we started packing his window samples up for him - hint - do one!
The quote was three times what we have been quoted before. When we laughed, various "discounts" were applied until the quote was twice what we have been quoted before. Still not a chance.
Special mention also goes to "our account"
I'm sure the FCA would be interested in the way this is being mis sold.
First, the interest is 1.5% of the balance outstanding each month - no mention of what the actual APR is - and he had four hours to drop that into conversation.
Secondly, they offer a "discount" off the cash price of 5% if you take out this expensive credit account and our particular conman had talked over 70% of his customers into this so could offer 10%.
Surely that stops people who would find credit useful from finding the cheapest method?
The FCA should crack down on this ASAP as this is NOT treating customers fairly.
Still, the kindly salesman reminded us that was very generous as the individual item price would be £57000!! REALLY.
When we said there is no way we find your product affordable he offered a slightly lower grade of windows for about 1.5 x what we have been quoted before - would we like a quote for that? Hmm let me think....
In conclusion please, please don't let Everest into your home! Thanks to all posters for your never ending help and support:beer:0 -
Do what I did. Tell them as soon as they arrive that you want a quote, any phone the boss discounts etc mean they will be told to leave immediately. Stick with that and you won't have a problem.0

Just getting over my latest conversation with the Everest “customer service manager”.
I was told by our Everest sales rep that, if we ordered our front door, it would be installed within ten weeks. Having placed the order in good faith and the “cooling off” period in the contract elapsed, we were then contacted by “customer service” to advise us the delivery would take sixteen weeks.
The outcome today has been that we’ve been told by customer service that they couldn’t be responsible for promises by their sales team, that the small print in the contract states that all dates were “indicative” and that it was our fault for not scrutinizing the small print with a fine tooth comb. We were also told that we could not now be released from the contract
Call me old fashioned, but this is NOT the way that reputable companies do business. These people can’t be trusted.

Love a bit of Everest!
I looked into working for them back along, (4 years ago) and very quickly realised my mistake. Its a scary idea of trying to sell something for 4 times what its worth to Mr and Mrs J Bloggs from down the road, but there are things to consider.
Most window companies offer 10-15 year guarantees. Everest offer a 30-40 year, even if the upvc starts to fade, the seals go, a handle breaks.
This guarantee can be sold with the house, so the next owner can continue this guarantee.
This guarantee can be backed by paying on finance through (I believe it was) Barclays. So should Everest Go Bust.... then Barclays would cover the Guarantee. Hence the extortionate price. You pay for the "insurance of a guarantee".
It all depends on you. Most people seem to move home more often now, and if your doing up a house, most of the time to sell it on you use a cheaper product as it looks good and does the job it needs to so you buy local. (As I would, even if it was on a long term property, can't afford Everest!)
End of the day, I'm in a rental while I work on my new house. The Aluminium windows and Doors were fitted by Everest in the early 90's. There's a 25 year guarantee on them. One of the seals broke 3 weeks ago, and, as per paperwork held by my landlord, the window was replaced. Be it now the only UPVC one on the house, they held their word on it.0 -
So pay 4 times as much for something with a guarantee 2-3 times as long. I take it maths is not your strong point otherwise you would realize just how daft that is.0
