HFC combined my husband's Marbles credit card with a Beneficial credit card in May 2005.
Sent first letter requesting bank statements and included a postal order for £10 (no cheque book).
Letter 19 June informing he had been "purged from their systems", were "unable to locate the £10 cheque" and suggested he "place a stop on this cheque".
Sent them letter June 30 requesting the return of the £10 postal order and again requested statements giving full info about all accounts.
No reply.
I have an identical account with HFC, also set up in 2005, received all my statements and currently my claim is with the FOS.
Looked at Martin's link to the Info Commissioner but it seems to only concern itself with public organisations.
Any advice please?0 -

hello all
i sent off asking for my charges applied to my account on my HFC loan and they have sent the following letter
dear mr johnson
thank you for your letter received 19th sep with regard to the default charges applied to your account. i have now completed my investigation into the matter raised and have summarised my findings below.
default charges are charges payable if customers do not the the required minimum payment by the payment due date, if they exceed there credit limit or if, payment is not made in time or is returned unpaid. the amount of these charges and the circumstances in which they are applied, is set out clearly in HFC Bank credit agreements. we believe that HFC bank charges to customers are fair and reasonable and fair.
in april last year th oft published the findings from its enquiry into default charges payable in respect of credit card accounts. HFC bank has carefully considered the ofts publucation but does not accept the principle that its findingd apply to your type of account. accordingly i regret thatwe are not prepared to make any refund of the default charges payable or provide any compensation.
thank you for taking the time to contact me to bring this matter to my attention, i am only sorry it was necessary for you to do so. whilst i realise that this was not the respone you were hoping to recieve, i at least hope that my explanation has clarified matters, however should you require any futher assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
yours blah blah
wot do you lot think?

Out of interest, has anybody had any joy with this company claiming back charges?
The only reason i ask, is that i am in a delicate situation with them and wondered how they are to deal with.
Many thanks,
