    Got a Beneficial credit card out in around 2002/3. Credit limit was £250. All charges bought balance to a little under £1000. Contacted them about repayments, no help at all,:mad: charges kept rolling on every month!!:idea: Thought to my self ***k this. Stopped paying minimum payments altogther.
    2005 HFC sends me some documents about a loan where they will pay of the credit card and i can then make monthly payments to pay of the loan. Also loan interest was just £66. Read thoroughly, over and over looking for the catch, there weren't one, thought ok and signed. Credit card got paid and closed.
    Still paying this loan just about. Didnt make a single payment since July 2005!!! Bad Bad!! Just now started paying again.:naughty:
    Anyway getting to the point i was wondering whether i could claim back the beneficial charges? If i could claim and did win the charges back would HFC take the money for the loan or would i get it?:confused:

    I was in the same situation! I had a card, they converted to a loan @£15 a month which I'm still paying till 2013 and they paid me 75% + 4½% interest within 6 weeks of my first letter ;)
    Got It & Spent It :dance:
    IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)
    MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)
    I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)
    CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)
    BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)
    On Hold :mad:
    A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)
    BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)
    BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)
    ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)

    Thats reassuring. I'm gonna give it go. Thanx for that.

  • Hi again all.

    With 2 of my claims well under way it's time to hit HFC with reclaiming my charges. :j

    I can only find one address for them which is the one below, and a quick glance at the list of addresses thread doesn't reveal another address for them. Do they have a specific data protection folks address or shall I just use the one below?

    HFC BANK LIMITED
    120 EDMUND STREET,
    BIRMINGHAM
    B3 2Q2

    Much appreciated,
    Stu :beer:
    Currently claiming for 3 accounts and 2 credit cards from barclays and halifax, in the early stages.
    Expecting to reclaim a total of approximately 10k going by early estimations.
    Now financially responsible despite a very checkered past thanks to MSE!

    You're not wrong. We don't seem to have a Data Protection address for HFC. Then again, maybe they don't as well.

    Therefore, use the above address.

    If your statements come back from anywhere else, let us know.

    Hi guys

    I was wondering how i go about claiming for charges on a loan i had with HFC bank, i was looking through my bank statements and the last payment i can find for them is back in feb 2003, i dont have any paperwork telephone numbers or addresses so was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did, pity i cant go back to the beginning of the loan as they were really bad for slapping you with charges, i started off with a loan for 1k when i was 18, back in 1988, finally paid them off in 2003.

    Thanks

    You can only claim for the past 6 years. If you have the account number, contact the bank using the template letter and !!! for the last 6 years of statements - it will cost you no more than £10! :)

    Hi everyone, just thought i'd see if anyone else has had the same ''advice''.

    I have just spoken to the customer services dept at hfc head office, i explained to him that although my loan was paid up in 2003 I believe that there were quite a few charges incurred in the final year of the loan, and that i would like a breakdown of the charges, he reminded me that despite whatever the charges were i agreed to this when i took out the loan, it was actually a current account plus, however, i explained to him that yes whilst i agreed to it, that would have been on the understanding that hfc were not making a profit from my late payment. He agreed to send me the details of the charges but made it clear that my chance of reclaiming were very very slim.

    interesting!

    has anyone else experienced this tactic or is he correct in what he's saying.

    They all fob you off in some way or another, you are entitled to the money back so i'd start your claim once you have got the statements. You can claim back 6 years :D
