OMG, I have hardly been on here for ages, and come on to look you up and just seen your fantastic news! Huge congratulations urg, so happy for you. I've been so bad at keeping up with diaries, don't even do my own now as been so busy but glad I seen your news. Actually was clearing out my emails the other day and found the ones we sent ages ago. If still have the same email address, I will drop you a line soon xx
  • Oh Wow :)

    Hi

Swinstie - lovely to see you! Yes still have the same email address.

Oh dear - I'm getting stressed about money already!! Our car is really not suitable for a new baby. We have decided we need to get a new one. We are going for second hand but a fairly recent one so that we can keep it for a good few years. We are going for the top end of the budget which means borrowing from savings.

The good thing is we aren't taking out credit but it does reduce the funds we have for baby stuff. We aren't going to go mad but I have nothing and we'll need at least some basics.

DH is also driving me mad. He really does not seem to be getting anywhere with dealing with his debt. It makes me worry about my maternity leave.

    And now RELAX......

    So I today I will:
    - iron (the mountain is very high)
    - 2 loads of laundry (one is already on)
    - sort out money for car
    - visit Dad
    - send cards
    - clear fridge
    - order crafting items

Right better get on. Although King Ralph is keeping me entertained. Who remembers Rumbelows!!!

    Hello again,

I've been lurking but not posting. I am 20 weeks pregnant tomorrow - half way!!! The bump is getting bigger and I am starting to realise that I can't carry on my life being as busy as it was when I wasn't pregnant! I had a bit of a meltdown last week after three nights out in a row. I am learning to pace myself!

We have the 20 week scan next week plus other appointments and I am getting nervous.

I am starting to really get focused on the money and the state of the flat and need to get on the straight and narrow!!

    Money:
We did get a new car. I had been saving over the last couple of years and also used some of the reserves to get a good deal on a car that will last us for a good few years. It's nice to say that it is one thing crossed off the list. We've even been able to pass on the old car to someone who needs it so I'm really happy about that (we would have only got about £150 to scrap it so this way someone gets to use it for a bit longer!)

I have been aiming to put aside some money aside for the big baby purchases we need to make - the buggy is the main one. I think I have decided on the one we want but it isn't cheap! My rationale is that if we invest now, it will last us for 2 children!

I really need to get my act into gear with money, focus on making a list of things we will need so that I can source the best prices or get things on ebay/freecycle. I must admit, I do struggle with second hand unless it is from people I know so finding good deals will help me cope!

    Flat:
To say it is a mess is a bit of an understatement - there are piles of crap everywhere and I seem to have become blind to i t and too lazy to deal with it. I really do need to deal with this so that I can do a deep clean and will make life much easier for me when baby arrives.

So the plan for the weekend:
    • get budget sorted for May
    • make the relevant payments needed for this month and set aside the 'baby' money
    • Find my budget book so that I can record my spending
    • Move Quidco money from account to savings!
    • Spend 3 X 15 minutes in the living room
    • Spend 3 X 15 minutes in the bedroom
    • 2 loads of washing
    • Ironing
    • clean Bathroom
    • Empty dishwasher and whizz round the kitchen
    • Vacuum (for DH - I hate this)
    • Look for new ironing board (my one is really warped and making it really difficult for me)
    • Make a list for supermarket and ask DH to do shopping while I am at voluntary job
    • Do physio exercises
I'm sure that there is plenty more but this is more than enough to get started. We'll be out this evening and a friend is coming over to help with our garden. She doesn't have one of her own and has decided to adopt our wilderness as her spring/summer project!! I am definately not complaining.

    Hope you are all okay!

I have even managed to have a first stab at my tax return. I will print it out next week and check it is okay. If it is, then I will submit it, set a note in my diary to pay in January 2014 so I can earn a bit of interest on the money! I save some money each month so I can move some of the remainder to the baby fund. I should't have to pay much tax next year as I will not be earning as much and don 't have a lodger anymore.

Right - on to the tidying!

    Hello

I didn't get very far last weekend - I started to feel unwell and just had to 'chill'.

The last week has been up and down. I've managed at least two NSDs but need to be more organised about my lunches and snacks as that is where I fall down.

Yesterday I had my 20 week scan. Looks like baby is fine but the experience wasn't the best for me. I also went to the dentist but felt like he couldn't be bothered because I was entitled to free treatment. My gums are so sore and get aggravated every time I eat!

We then went shopping as need some 'summer' clothes for our holiday. It's so depressing to not find maternity clothes in my size. I've had to get bigger sizes and it's made me feel even bigger. I spent loads and I will need to work out what I will keep and what I will take back.

I do have to say - I'm not my usual happy self today!

I have lots to do this weekend but intend on having some fun too! I need some me time but also to feel like have achieved something. So here is my list of things to do:
    • [STRIKE]Order travel insurance[/STRIKE]
    • Washing - at least three loads
    • Ironing - the mountain is growing
    • Decide what clothes I will keep
    • Sewing - I plan to make a baby blanket as gift
    • Crochet 2 squares for anothee gift baby blanket
    • Spend at least 30 minutes tidying in the bed room
    • Work - need to do about 2 hours to catch up
    • Call best friend about possible visit
    • Call auntie - haven't spoken to her in a while
    • Read for 30 minutes
    • Change duvet to summer duvet - finally!!!!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
