All the info you need is here: http://uk.blackberry.com/playbook-tablet/
It might be a decent tablet when they release the OS update. Personally I find 7" a bit small
At least it's not got a major manufacturing/design flaw like the HP Touchpad! Now that really IS a duff piece of kit. No wonder they ditched that. Mine is on it's second holiday to HP in Hungary.
What's the flaw with the touchpad? I got one for £89 and I'm impressed with itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've not noticed that. Had it for 4 months and had no issues with it. Plus now it's gone open source the software and apps should improve dramaticallyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Defective plastic case. Many of them crack and split near the speakers, until eventually bits fall off (even when not used!!). This should be a feature of something from Poundland, not a premium product.
Design fail!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I've just bought a Playbook for the same reason, the price. I did my research before hand, and everything you mentioned is coming in February! Personally, I love it already, without those features. You can access calendar/email etc online through the browser, and this will at least do me for a few weeks. I'm a huge Apple fan, but never really bought in to the iPad, and I think even as is the Playbook is a better buy than the iPad. The app store is a little limited at the moment, but Android apps are coming.
How about holding on to it until then? It'll be worth doing, you won't be able to buy an equivalent tablet for the same price, and the price for the Playbook is due to go back up soon.
So if you buy/ have a Blackberry Playbook now will you be able to upgrade the OS in February? Will this be free of charge? Thanks.0 -

generally speaking, OS updates on tablets have been free in the past, so the playbook should follow suit.
i'd be very surprised if they charged for it, given they're not exactly flying off the shelves at the minutehelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
i have a blackberry phone and love it. i thought the blackberry tablet would be very like this. i cant get to grips with an iphone and my daughter wont let me near her ipad. I thought the 169.99 price for the tablet was a bargain. i will just be surfing the net on it, nothing really complicated. do you think this tablet is worth buying or do you think the price will come down?Just about to give up!0

Hi I have just asked this very same question here... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3705417
So keep an eye on that link in case there are replies there. Let's hope we get some feedback!

If it was advertised with a feature, then it should work without the consumer having to buy a blackberry phone too.
Now, I am unsure of the advertising currys have for the playbook. If they say "it can do x, but you need a blackberry phone to use x feature", then fair enough. But if they are advertising it as being able to use email for example, then they should be specifically saying that you need a blackberry phone for that function.
Just to touch on the Touchpad talk. I have had no problems with mine. Web OS is a bit crap, but I have since installed android on it and it works fine. No charging issues (although I just use a usb cable, not the inductive charging thing) and no cracks etc (although I have a case on it all the time).0
