In fact Curry's staff are not paid on comission or given a bonus on the amount of sales made, so they probably won't know that...

    Rubbish.

If I go into HMV and buy a DVD, HMV don't have a duty to tell me that I need to own a DVD player in order to watch it.

    Some things are implied!

But it is not implied that one needs to own a Blackberry in order to use a Playbook.

The chemist example is entirely distinct because chemists have to be qualified to sell certain products. You don't need any qualifications to work in Currys. Besides which, why do we need to 'look at this another way'? The only way we need to look at this is from the perspective of the law relating to this specific scenario. And in that regard your assertion that the Currys sales assistant has a contractual or otherwise legal obligation to carry out their job with reasonable skill and care, to the extent of having a positive duty to give certain advice, is entirely erroneous.

I don't see how that is relevant. The person behind the counter at the chemist shop, is no more qualified than the salesman in Currys.

    Not always.

An ex of mine worked in a high street pharmacy and other than the physical act of exchanging money or carrying out a double check, a qualification IS needed if she wanted to actually dispense POMs, even if under the supervision of the pharmacist.

Correct. To dispense any prescription medicine requires the person to be either a registered Pharmacist or a registered Pharmacy Technician (working under the supervision of a Pharmacist).

The person who takes money at the till and maybe hands over the packaged prescription does not need any specific qualifications. But they wouldn't be expected to offer any advice either. ;)

Defective plastic case. Many of them crack and split near the speakers, until eventually bits fall off (even when not used!!). This should be a feature of something from Poundland, not a premium product.

    Design fail!

Some early models did this - most don't.

But you don't - I happily use one and can tether it via bluetooth to my Android phone for 3G. I can access email via the web and just bookmark the pages.

Not read all the comments. Fact is that the BB PB is lacking in some facilities such as native email client etc etc .Also the only way to use webcam messaging is via the BB app to other PBs.

Having said that, for the reduced price of £169 its a great value piece of kit and the word on the streets is that the release of the new OS in Feb 2012 will fix quite a few gripes.

I dont think you will get a better bit of kit for that price.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

It's the best tablet available at that price.. there are apps for it, but who needs apps anyway on a device with a 7" screen.

The PB is an internet device that does apps as opposed to an app device that does the internet.

People who think you need a BB phone obviously haven't done any research.
