Wouldn't worry Sammie, what weight is he? Aaron is 17lbs and will be 8 months soon :) xx

He is 16lbs and will be 6 months on Thursday.
What age was Aaron when he could sit up? I know every baby is different though.

Gilly, I think clothing sizes in this country are a bit weird generally - in most of Europe, there's no 3-6 months etc. - sizes are by length. So you get sizes like 68cm, 74cm etc. which to me makes more sense, given how differently babies grow. And since measuring babies' length is as common as having them weighed, you'd always know where your baby's at...

They ahve never measured my LO...just weighed.

He's 6 months 21 lb and can sit up unaided now (we put our l-shaped pillow behind him as he can ninja roll to the sides but when he goes backwards its like a tree falling). At the moment he is getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and fore a lot....looks a little rude....

he started sitting up on his own about 2 weeks ago I think (jeez time flies) before that he used to have an inflatable ring to lie/sit in - now he can crawl otu of it so its a bit redudant. I think it helped though as he effectively did lots of sit ups reaching for toys we put on his lap etc. They all develop differently though.
  • Wow i haven't been on for ages!!

Sammie my LO is just over 8months and was weighed last week and is now 17lbs :)

I think that's fine, A was about the same, he was born between 50th and 75th centile and has fallen to between the 9th and 25th and has always followed that line. If they suddenly start dropping or jumping up centiles, that's when you need to worry really.

Erm well he crawled and pulled himself up on the sofa before he could sit up. He was around 6 and a half months before he could sit up, although I'd say that was more though impatience though. No matter what I done I couldn't stop him face planting any time I tried to sit him up.

    Hey Ladies,

Been away for a few days, not been feeling so great, had bad headaches.

All this talk of babies and size makes me realise how small Poppy still is, still in 0-3 month clothes and weighs 13lb exactly and she is nearly 10 months old! Still not sitting up yet either!

Really struggling to get her out her moses basket at the moment, put her in her cot bed for the first time on Saturday night in her gro bag and she wouldn't settle, she screamed solid for an hour so I gave in and put her in her moses basket, she fell asleep in minutes!!

Hope all OK, going to have a good read back now.

Have you tried putting the moses basket in the cot bed to start with janninew so that Poppy gets used to bars/view? Then you can remove the moses basket and it might go a bit more smootly.

    Hope everyone is ok.

Jacob is poorly, poor little thing. Hopefully he will feel better soon as it was no fun last night!

I've been doing that hun, the moses has been in her cot for the past few weeks and Saturday was the first night when I took the moses away and she clearly hated it! I think she likes the security of the moses with the hood and the cot is to big and open for her. At this rate she'll still be in it when she turns 1!

Hope you and Jacob have a better night tonight.

Is it a cot bed Jannine? If so is there any way of borrowing a smaller cot, either just a cot or space saver or even a crib to get her used to the bigger space but not too big? x

  • Hi Sammie, Aiden can't sit up on his own yet either. He can do a proper crawl but mainly military crawls. He is 19lb and 6mnths, he is always between 75th and 91st.

As others say, HV are always happy if they follow a centile throughout I think.

I agree re the length as thats always how Aiden grows out of things so it would be useful to buy for his length!!

Hi jannine, hope Poppy settles in the cot, it took Aiden a good few nights. Agree about putting the basket in the first few nights too.

Bought a boots insulated food thermos today, from the baby section. Online review is rubbish but 2 ladies at baby clinic last week were raving about them being ace. Thought would be useful as I meet my mum or dad on a thurs and fri and I want to start Aiden on lunches now :)

Ive come up to bed as I am shattered! X

Yes its a cotbed gilly, its very big and she looks like a pea on a drum when she's in it! Her Grandad bought it for her when she was in hospital, i had no input in which one she got, i probably wouldn't have gotten such a big one! I might look into a swinging crib maybe, i thought using the gro bag would help make her feel secure. Hope your ok gilly.x
