I hadn't even thought about fitting it in the boot! Eek good job you said that Laura! Hope you're feeling a bit better now? I can't really read George's cries that well, I tend to just try and think if it's been a while since he last fed, or a while since he slept then I can figure out if it's hunger/tiredness. Somedays I think he just cries because he wants to though!Newborn thread member

I can read some of them - we've got a very definite "oww wind me owww" one, we've got a "hungrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyy" one and then we've got a "I'm just chucking a strop to keep you on your toes but I can't be bothered to be really going at it hard" half-assed one (this one is accompanied by the most hilarious pet-lip you've ever seen).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

It is, isn't it? Here it's layers all the way - short-sleeved dresses with tights/leggings; then I can add or remove a cardigan and add or remove tights/leggings as and when the weather changes... cause you bet it will! I also have a blanket and a spare pair of socks that live in the pram for when it turns really cold all of a sudden.... But the ONE day I didn't bring the rain cover for the pram because I needed to do a bit of shopping and needed the space for my stuff... Of course it rained!0 -
I know Joseph's 'give me food now' scream and the 'I need sleep but I'm fighting it' grizzle when I put him down...but still learning and certainly don't know them all Laura so try not to worry too much lovely
The worst for me to de-code is when he sticks his bottom lip and pouts!

Hi everyone,
can I join in? I had DD2 on 12th August, weighing in at 6lb. She was a whole 2 and 1/2 hours overdue by emergency caesarean as my old caesarean scar had started to tear. she is called Megan Bette and is absolutely gorgeous as is DD1!
So far so good, I have been breastfeeding, combining with a bottle before bed (usually at midnight) to try and get 3 hours sleep in one go.
I do appear to be breastfeeding rather a lot, with her latching on from mid-afternoon until her midnight feed, so I think I am being used as a dummy and feeling a bit sore and concerned that I am not giving her enough milk (her bottle is guzzled straight down). Has anyone else struggled with this? My boobs are really sore, the pain feels quite deep, not just nipple pain.
Seeing the midwife tomorrow to hopefully be discharged.
Hope everyone else is OK.Boots: £107.xx on AC :j

Hello Vicki & Gemma and congrats !! :j
Nice to see new faces !!
Quick post before phone dies !!
Vicky- We love a bit of moneysaving on here vicky! My favourite tip if bottle feeding (originally out on here by another mser) is if using bottles eg avent don't buy new teats just pierce with sterilised needle to make more holes.
Gemma - I combo fed for a while but lanisoh and lots if it for nips, get latch checked by professional also tongue tie?
Hope everyone ok still mulling over how much we spend on grocery shopping
Oh and re determining what cry means what it will come it takes time and inbetween it's just try everything in order until tried everything, you are doing fab Jedi xx0 -
Vicky and Gemma - hello and welcome!
Hope everyone's had a good day - I went for lunch with a couple of ladies I met at pregnancy yoga and who I've stayed in touch with; our LOs are very similar in age (+/- 2 weeks) so it's nice to have someone locally who's also getting used to the weird and wonderful world of motherhood!
Grocery shopping - this is going to sound terrible, but I don't really know how much we spend... But it's quite a bit; my best guess would be something like £80 a week plus milk and nappies (although LO's 15 weeks and I still haven't bought a single nappy since she was born - that's how much I stockpiled in the months before the birth!).
Crying - by now I can usually work out what she wants (although not always), I think you figure this out as you go along, in the beginning it's all a bit hit and miss. Nine times out of ten it's hunger, tiredness, dirty nappy or boredom/wanting a cuddle. We didn't recognise the tiredness crying in the beginning - we'd try everything and she'd keep crying, and eventually we realised that she'd probably rather we stopped faffing and just put her down to sleep!0 -

I definitely second this! We've come to the conclusion that sometimes its best to just let him cry for 5 minutes on his own when it's nap/bed time rather than constantly trying to comfort him as all it does is wind him up and prolong the upset.Newborn thread member
