Thanks :) I'm chuffed with the hair, I thought all babies' hair fell out but 6 weeks on and so far so good :) I love that it's long enough to spike it up, great fun!!

Aimless - Aiden was quite big, 8lb 4, and for some reason they emptied my bladder with a cathater mid labour too, but I didn't have the peeing situation afterwards. Although I didn't drink enough afterwards as I was a bit scared of peeing.

I didn't have it last time (8lb 10) but this time baby was 9lb 6, and also i'm a lot older and more worn out! :D

Turtlemoose - he's very cute (and love the vest too)! Hope your nights get better soon, sounds exhausting. Hopefully things will improve as he gets older - but glad you got a smile at least; they do make the tiredness so much more bearable, don't they? My LO usually does a big grin at the 5am feed - almost as if she knows I need all the encouragement I can get at that point!

Mrs Bryan - nice to see you over here, and welcome to the world of the walking zombies! Hope Teddy's doing well and you're enjoying being a mum despite the tiredness.

Hair - my LO was born with loads of hair and it's grown out of control since then, but in the last few days it's started to fall out - not happy! :( She's 10 weeks today, and I know it's normal, but still... Booo.

    Morning all! :)

We're back to waking once a night here, no idea where I'm going wrong, because he can do it. He has 3 meals a day too, so not like I can give him much more food. He takes a whole bottle when he wakes too, so I don't think he's waking out of habit. He does go straight back down though but it's normally me who can't get back to sleep :(

I am bunged up with the cold, feel like crap :( every time I blow my nose too Aaron is terrified, not good.

Let him feed himself his porridge this morning, I pre loaded the spoon and let him get on with it, what a mess! He was sooo sticky after it, luckily I'd stripped him down to his nappy before I done it. He's having a nap now, or should be but is talking to himself :)

Hope everyone is well, with the childcare I'm glad at the moment I don't work, anything I did earn would mostly be taken up with childcare I think

  • Hi all
Just wanted to update people on how my sons sleepings going now. He's nearly 6 weeks now and wasn't sleeping in his Moses basket, day or night. You ladies gave me lots of advice, but I was so worried, especially as it seemed that he was choking when I laid him flat, so I took him to the doctors and it turns out he has reflux. Have any of you had much experience of this. He's been prescribed gaviscon to take after each feed to treat the ymptoms, but if anything things seem to be getting worse. I have tried all of your ideas for getting him to sleep and we have had some success the last couple of nights. He has gone down for a few hours giving me some much needed sleep! I thought I would share the things that worked for other mums with reflux babies/problem sleepers.

A warm bath before bedtime seems to help. I've also been told to try massaging, but not done that yet. I warm his clothes and swaddle him after I've dressed him. Then I feed him in an upright position, wind him and give him his gaviscon.
I try to keep him in an upright position for 30 mins after feeding, for him to drift off to sleep. we use a water bottle to warm his Moses basket and when we put him down we lie him on his side, (naughty, I know), with blankets rolled up to stop him rolling and make him feel secure and snugly. We also purchased a reflux wedge which raises the head of his mattress by 30 degrees to aid digestion. When I put him down, I keep my hands there for a minute or so. He still makes some discomfort/choking sounds but not as much and they don't wake him up and he only seems to wake up when he genuinely needs a feed.

It is a bit of a palava and his routine does take a long time, but at least I seem to be getting some sleep now! I just hope that we've turned the corner. He will probably have reflux for some time still but at least he, (and me), are getting some quality sleep! I am also trying cutting out dairy products. Not sure if this is helping as its only been about a week. I think I will request an allergy test next time I'm at the doctors because it's very hard cutting out dairy. You wouldn't believe how many things have milk products in. I've switched to soy milk, (yuck!),

Turtle moose, love the picture of your little boy who must be a few days older than my son, Oscar; (he was born on 10th June) he also has a head full of hair that he hasn't lost. I think this is partly because he's not been laid down much because he doesn't sleep
.:rotfl: I will try and post a photo but am on my iPad and don't have any pictures on here!

Sorry for the long rambling post, just thought I would share what worked because reflux seems quite a common problem with babies when you look into it and there's so much conflicting advice about what you should/shouldn't do.

Glad to see you've had some progress pinkspiral, it is a long journey and a process of elimination. If the gaviscon isn't working it's only the first step, go back to your GP and say it's not working and see what they can prescribe next, will probably be ranitidine, which I've heard great things about, didn't work for us, but a lot of people sing it's praises xx
