Morning all. I'm exhausted this morning, stopped work at midnight and fed George before bed then he was up again at 2 for AGES! And then es been up since 5.30. Daren't look in the mirror, not going to be a pretty sight!
Good luck at the doc turtle
Sunshine hope you get a bit more rest. There doesn't seem to be any pattern with G's sleeping, completely random as to whether he's up once and sleeps til 8.30 or is up 4 time and wakes up at 5.Newborn thread member

Dizzi, wanted to show you my other nappy (I just sold it, as we don't do poppers here but I know you'l appreciate)
Hate the dummy in and dummy out thing too, frustrating!
Oh God - TOO cute!
Granny's basically mayoress of their city this year - so far she's zipwired over the river and the wing walk is this weekend I gather... not quite sure if it's civic duty, late mildlife crisis or an attempt to give her granddaughter her inheritance too early!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Dizzi - WOW!! That's all I have to say about granny!!
Sunshine - hope you manage to get a bit more sleep hun.
Lirin - I look back and don't know how I done it in the early days!!
Katie - Have you got it all done now? I have one of those "cover up the mirror" days everyday!!
Dropped boys at school and home to tidy up.have got to pop into town to get teachers a present today so might pop into my grandparents to see them too. I have a headache and my hair is really greasy so I'm guessing it's going to be the time of the month soon, I hope it hurries up as we are going to Spain next week!!
Does any one else suffer really bad headaches?

Dizzi granny is a proper daredevil! I'd never dare do wing walking, too much of a wimp!
Sammie no not all done yet, and got more from another client now too! Not complaining (well, not much anyway) it's all ££ and it means more overpaying on the mortgage.
I don't suffer from headaches all that much tbh, hope you feel better soon.
G has brightened up now, was a misery first thing but 2 huge nappy bombs later and he's all smiles. Now, just to get him down for his nap...

Entered a comp and we've won a Venture photoshoot. Also just been told I'm testing Teso bakery goodies.
Makes up for the stupid decision to wear heels yestarday resulting in flared up hip today!0 -
Ooo congrats on your win Lirin!
I have a formula question, hope someone might be able to help?
OH wants to get some formula to have in for the odd bedtime like this week when I'm busy working and completely shattered, to give me a break. Is it ok to just give formula every so often? I'd rather it not be a regular thing as I like bfing but it might be nice to have a backup when things get on top of me. Also are some brands better than others? How do you work out how much he needs?
Sorry there's a few questions there! Tbh I hate the idea of it and I know I'll be in pieces the first time we give him it but I'm not much use to him as I am at the moment and the odd full nights sleep would do me the world of good. Very mixed feelings about it so sorry for the waffling.Newborn thread member

Katie, I don't know if I'm the best person for this one!
Rose was breastfed, then express/breastfed, moving to express/ formula and now formula (which is getting ousted now as it appears to be boring... shoved away with her head thrown to one side....)
I can tell you that when it was a mix she seemed to have no problems. When she was a mix of express and breast she seemed to have no probs with the bottle/breast switch. Start with a few oz first- baby will let you know when they've had enough!
If you feel you need to switch, even if only once in a while, do not beat yourself up. Breastfeeding is bloody hard work, and more difficult than I expected.... Expressing was fine until I started back at work, which is why we are now formula. One thing I found nice- I made meals using some breastmilk, which have been frozen in ice-cubes. It's nice that even though I couldn't have worked the expressing route with work, baby will get my milk for longer.0 -
Hi Katiechoc
Re the formula question, i combi fed from 4 weeks and it was fine. I used Aptamil as i had used SMA with DD1 and it made her really constipated.
As for amounts, i guess just make up a bottle of 6 or 7oz and gauge how much little one takes this time.
Dont beat yourself up over it, a well rested mummy equals a happy baby and you OH will enjoy being able to help with feeding. xxDue 26th July, team yellow0 -
Oh and meant to say, if you just want to try formula then maybe just buy one of the ready made cartons at first instead of spending a tenner on a big tin xxDue 26th July, team yellow0
