Moring all, thought I'd join in here as me and my DW have a beautiful 4 month daughter and she's gone from sleeping solid from 10pm - 5am to waking up at 2am, 4am, 5am, 6am etc. I have an hour to drive to work (thankfully only for the next few days, then it's working from home time :D ), but it's like we're walking zombies again. :(

It's also rather annoying when she's kept us both up all night then looks at us with a giant grin on her face. How can you be frustrated at such a beautiful baby girl!? :o

    Morning, and welcome!! :T

I can only guess about the sleeping, but maybe 4 month growth spurt/sleep regression? It is hard to be upset with those heart warming grins hey lol, Charlie is the king of those haha x

Yey! I finally caught up! Lots of bf rambling advise coming up

I cannot remember who said there little one only had little feeds then fell asleep. I think they also said they had a really powerful flow. It all sounds normal to me but I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. The foremilk makes the baby sleepy and LO can have trouble with the speed, so expressing for a few minutes could be a solution.
How are the nappies? If they are green, they are having too much foremilk to hind milk. It took weeks for this to get better for us.
Bf is such hard work, after a very rocky start we had just about got the hang of it by 6 weeks and by 12 weeks it really settled down into something of a pattern. Feeds have reduced from 45-60 minutes to 20-30 mins.
Seb didn't have fixed naps till around 14-15 weeks and even now he can skip them, especially for new things!
Hang in there it will get better.
I do think bf campaigns have a lot to answer for regarding our expectations. They must all use 5-6 month old babies not newborns!
Seb had poor weight gain for the first few months so I gave him formula for two meals. It could have been a coincidence but I think it helped him feed better over all, as he was less tired from all of the effort. Maybe a ebf meal would help. Seb rejected the formula feeds around 16 weeks and now only has it in his food.
On phone so apologies for poor editing.

Yeah - the side of her head's corrected itself (she had a square head on one side and a rounded head on the other side) but the back's now suffering terribly. Think I'm more concerned as she's going to sit later relative to her actual age because of her being early so there's more time for her to do the damage.

Plus if I'm honest I DO really love having her snuggled up in the sling sometimes while she's still small and squishy (and it keeps the dummy wedged in her mouth better!). I've got a growing expensive babywearing (even though I hate that term) habit - want a couple of really nice woven wraps next for when she gets too big for a stretchy and I don't want to use my connecta (I also have a bit of a reputation locally as possibly not owning a pushchair - I do - it's just a faff getting it in and out of the car when a couple of clips or popping the baby in a wrap and I can go off and at 'em.

For teething I've been giving bonjela every couple of hours or before a feed. He's only had it about 6 times. I've given him a couple of calpols and ibuprofen on his 2 bad days, so he could eat and drink. He just seemed grumpy and it seemed to help.

Right...does anyone elses baby do this. I know he is tired as he has been up since about 6, he does all the 'I need a nap signs' pick him up give him dummy and bunny and he starts to close his eyes, so take him upstairs, place him in the cot and boom WIDE awake, legs kicking about and laughing.

He has done this about 4 times this week....if I go and get him and bring him down I know he will just be grumpy!!

Welcome IrishGypsy :)I'm going to dig out the list in a few minutes as there is lots of people not on it.

Back once I have tried to get him to sleep. x

Those are the days I resort to the sling sunshine! She's currently snuggled up out for the count in it (I think boobs make a higher class of pillow).

Otherwise I just wait it out I'm afraid - my girl WILL settle eventually - it just takes time with her (she's a stubborn one like her mum).

That's what all the online research is pointing to, and she was in the 98th percentile (and over 1 stone!) about a month ago!

She's usually a very happy baby (loads of smiles and giggling), she's also got immense leg strength already (so we reckon she'll be walking before she can crawl). She's also stuffing her fingers inside her mouth so we reckon she's starting teething already on top! We just weren't expecting it and we were really happy she was getting into a routine!

At least I start my new career from home next week, so I can move from doing weekend night feeds to every other day so my wife can catch up on sleep in the spare room (She's earned it!;)).
