What makes it worse is that the less time Dh spends with her in the week, the more CJ cries when i try and get him to take her at the weekend. And the more she cries for him, the less he wants to take her cos it upsets him and he feels crap, and vicious cycle continues. If i'm lucky Dh will change 3- 4 nappies and take her for one hour long walk over a weekend. He used to be able to bring her down and look after her for an hour in the mornings so i could lie in a little, but now she just cries at him till i rescue them.
I'm hoping that she will gradually allow us to move her bedtime a little later, so he sees her in the evenings sometimes, and she gets used to him again, but at the moment, she refuses to move it more than a few minutes later than going upstairs for 5.15! Set in her ways, is our wee lassie!

Luckily, my little one seems to remember Daddy and hasn't cried at him yet, even after a fortnight. Sadly Daddy doesn't tend to wake up in the night when he's here, but at least I do get some decent meals and plenty of nappies done. :D And baby gets lots of playing.

hello hope everybody is doing well..or at least managing :)

If I confuse posts and posters I am very sorry, but has been another long day here at koala manor and my brain is frazzled!! :rotfl:

Fredula my mum, (who is obsessively houseproud) gave me the best advice ever when my oldest was a babyand it has served me well to this day :) She told me to think of all of my happiest childhood memories, and then asked me to answer a few questions. These were along the lines of how many of these memories involved a sparkly clean and tidy house? or pristine perfectly pressed clothes? or visits to a multitude of relatives who despite making all the right noises truthfully no more wanted to spend the day in my company than they wanted to swim the channel? (I was actually quite a pleasant child...honest! :rotfl:)

When my answers were all predictably no to these I was advised to think about what that was telling me my boy didn't need either. Our family home wasnt as clean as it maybe should have been, and my boy had very few clothes properly ironed, if at all before his first birthday, but what he did get was lots of time and attention.

I know your baby was preterm like my oldest was and I was warned that I may find it harder to bond with him as I had very little contact post delivery due to being resuscitated then ventilated. I struggled to do the normal mum/baby chatter as it felt so alien at first so instead I used to read articles from newspapers and magazines aloud to him so that he didnt forget my voice. It took a while but we got there in the end where the conversation gibberish was totally spontaneous and fun.

Kira my DH is away a lot for months on end due to work and when he comes back our younger children dont have a clue who he is so get really upset when he tries to pick them up, which upsets him too. :( In the early days he used to then take this as his cue to back off and leave everything to me. However I wised up quickly and reminded him that they are in fact his children too and input was not only expected but required :o I am not above emotional blackmail asked him if he really wanted his children to look back as adults on this distant stranger who was at home sometimes, or their lovely fun dad who just had to go away for work a lot. :o It worked! :D Now he puts in the effort to remind them that it is him for the first few days, which can be hard going....but then everything slots perfectly into place again. :)

Kira- must be so frustrating as you need your rest. Agree with koalamummy that he needs to persevere etc hubby talks a lot to LO and feeds if he can and of course food is quite persuasive ! Ro xx

Easter holidays here are not going to plan at all. All children have somehow managed to develop really bad colds which has put all plans on hold as it wont be very much fun for them while they are sick :(

We got our daughter one of the fisher price jumperoos at christmas time thinking she may like it. Turns out she likes it a little bit too much and has learned how to swing and jump in it so that it tips up off the floor on one side! She is not going to be impressed when I dismantle it but I think it is too much of a safety issue now.

    Morning All

Its snowing here :eek:not sticking or anything luckily!!

My little man seems to have taken to the Gaviscon :D we still have the odd mouthful of sick and still a little bit teary, but when I compare it to how he was the last week or so it is a vast improvement. The HV did say once the sickness has eased he may still have the pain, but within a week or so the pain should have almost gone. Going back to Dr tomorow as I realised Monday is bank holiday, so will hopefully get a repeat prescription.

All I need to do now is try and get him into a routine and to fall asleep in his basket on his own...any tips?!?! :)

Fredula - I'm sorry you are feeling a bit low. I havent been there myself, but is there any mummy and baby groups you can attend? Perhaps meeting some other mummys might help a little, or any events at your local libraries or childrens centres? Where I live they have baby bounce and rhyme, baby massage etc - it might give you a chance to have some uninterupted time talking with your little one. I hope things improve for you.

Got my little man dressed this morning and a couple of his clothes dont fit anymore, I felt quite sad...I dont want him to grow!!!

    Morning Ladies,

Hope you and babies are all doing well.

Just wondered if any of you bought gifts for your OH when you had your baby?

    Hello :)

No, I didnt. Mine bought me a blue topaz neckalce though, for having a blue baby :)

I think one of our relatives brought him some beers, and when my Mum was helping out bringing us a bit of shopping she used to buy him a cake or something yummy.

But as for me...no I didnt get him anything lol, is that bad? Did anyone else?!

I had a 'Keep Calm it's only a Baby' card hidden in my hospital bag for him, and a you've got a little bro one for my teenager. I also got him a book for labour, in case it was a long drawn out affair. Didn't even get opened. :D He got me... nothing, ah well! Just had a text saying work gave him some easter chocolate, and that he'd given it to a work mate. Ah well again, least I found some greatly reduced Lindt santas the other day for us! :D:EasterBun
