    Hello :)

Welcome Lola, gosh your birth sounds traumatic too. Why cant these things be easy hey?

Mozzy - I'm still a bit sore when I go to the loo too, also the bleeding seems to be coming and going which is a bit weird, I should buy shares in sani pads as I have got through that many :rotfl:

Does anyone else have a clingy baby? Mine is fine on my knee asleep, hence me typing 1 handed lol, but when I put him down he just cries! I really need to do some housework!!

Re OBEM, I tried watching after I gave birth and cried for about an hour :( maybe one day we can watch.

    Another sunny day :)

Hey Sunshine, I think I commented on your thread, I remember it. Stitches? I'm still sore, and Rose was born Dec 19th! I'm going to see the Doc about it, it should have healed up more by now.

Rose is a terror now, the teeth are well on their way, and she looks spaced out a bit now as she's discovering her hands and feet. It's funny watching her wave them around- the look on her face it's 'Dude! Wow!'.

She's a little bit aggravated at the moment, she has a nasty cough and cold, which I think I had a bit of too. She's very raspy talking, and hoarse. Sounds like a mini Darth Vader. It's not serious, but hard listening to her.

REturn to work interview- already! They've agreed to my request to go on a different working pattern, meaning I won't have to get childcare, we'll just fumble through. Means I won't see DH as much as I'd like, but the first three years of our relationship consisted of us leaving post-it notes around the house as our shifts were opposing!

Welcome Sunshine & Lola, and congratulations on the safe arrival of your babies even if they weren't the births you might have hoped for.

Sunshine, I also remember your thread. Might not have been ideal, but you did do it! Re the baby being clingy, I think you'll find everyone has been there and the transfer from arms to crib is the most delicate operation - my DH talks of it like we are dealing with an unexploded bomb, just waiting for her to 'go off' and start screaming again! There are things you can try - warm the blankets, swaddling etc. Also, if you want to get around and do stuff two handed without putting baby down, look into getting a sling.

Funnily enough, I'm enjoying OBEM now. Couldn't watch it when this series first started as I was overdue and didn't want to know then, but now I like watching the births and kind of comparing them to mine - like I didn't remember her crying when she was first born and talked to DH and she did only grizzle (up until they gave her a vitamin K injection!). I am more emotional watching them now though.

On the subject of returning to work, does anyone know when I'm supposed to discuss this with my bosses? I understood that they work on the basis that I will be back after 12 months on normal hours unless I tell them otherwise first, but I don't know when I have to tell them. I did ask for the details in writing, but still haven't had it.

Crabapple - if you want.to return earlier than the maximum, or earlier than any other date you gave already, then you have to give at least 8 weeks notice in writing. If you want to request flexible hours they have to consider your request and respond formally giving reasons uf they say no. With that and requesting part time , its best to give as much notice as poss so they can investigate properly and not use lack of time as an excuse.

Thanks Kira. I suspect if I ask for part-time (which is what I want to do while LO is young) they will say no. I guess knowing that sooner rather than later will help. Ideally I need to find another job before I need to go back anywhere, but I'd really like to do what I'm qualified and experienced at and there aren't that many jobs about let alone p-t.

I keep thinking that the easiest option might well be to get pg again before I have to go back, then take mat leave again almost immediately! DH remains to be convinced :rotfl:

Re the clingy baby - I was just telling Kira this today! Charlie would fall asleep on me, but as soon as I put him down, cue a screaming baby boy! You'd think it was the end of the world. But within seconds of picking him up, he was off asleep again! I couldn't get anything done, or eat anything! :p
