Happy birthday Ro!
Hope you have a fab day!
Another reasonably good night's sleep here... All thanks to Ewan the dream sheep! I seriously love this sheep!
I hope all the new mummies are getting on ok and any stitches aren't too uncomfortable!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
I gave birth to Ellie at 7.42pm had skin to skin and bath in the labour room with oh then moved to the ward at 9pm and they told partner he had to go. I was a wreck and gutted not even 2 hours with his daughter
I was in the delivery room for the first night as I was too wobbly to get out of bed (had transfusion the next day) and DH stayed all night in the chair. I couldn't get up anyway as was on drips and stuff so there's no way I'd have coped on my own. I do wish I'd been more insistant about leaving before the second night though, DH had to go as I got moved to the main ward, but I had three sleepless nights in a row which was really way too much!
DH has just gone back to work for a half day for the first time, so far all going well as Elliot has been fast asleep! Think it'll be time for a nappy change and a feed soon though...

Happy birthday Ro - hope you enjoyed receiving a 'mummy' card
awww, Mozzy, it does get better. I think my LO was 4 days old and I just remember having to lower myself into the car, sitting on four pillows and thinking to myself, there is no chance on gods green earth am i going to go for a number 2. I text my friend asking how long it lasts for, it hurt to walk, everything!!! Just keep up with the painkillers, I found I was missing doses just through being so busy with baby.
Monday again, weekends go so quickly now i'm back at work......hrumpf:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0 -
Hello all, looking for a bit of advice please, and if you want to comment or call me a scrounger, I'm really not interested
As you all know we've had numerous problems with Aaron with suspected reflux/colic and/or bad wind. Now after about a week of using colief entirely and not just on and off, it really seems to be in his system and working, he's been great now for almost 2 days, he's still cranky and a bit unsettled at times, but the constant screaming, choking himself, scratching his face etc seems to have stopped, now the problem is the bottle has 7ml in it (which is teeeeny tiny) and because we're making his feeds up fresh, with 4 drops in every bottle it doesn't last long and costs £11/12 a bottle, which every 5 days is a lot for us to spend. Obviously if we need to I would spend it in a heart beat for him, but I'm not working and receiving maternity allowance and OH is a student, who works as much as possible, but isn't able to do full time hours. The midwife did comment and say it is possible to get it on prescription but it is difficult to get due to cost. Now we have an appointment with the GP on Wednesday, what would be the best way to go about asking for it do you think?
I'm over the moon that he seems to be in a lot less pain, and it breaks my heart to see him like that, never mind OH missing days and days of uni because of how hysterical he gets, so we get no sleep and there is a chance OH could fail! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Gilly - I would be direct with the GP and say that the midwide has told you that it is possible to get it on prescription, and you feel that he needs it, without it, he's in pain........ sometimes directness can pay off:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0

I was thinking that too, it's not my usual GP as to get an appointment at such short notice, we had to take anyone we could get, it is a woman though so I hope that she'l understand. I have my 6 week check with my GP in 3 weeks, so if it doesn't work, can always go down that route with her as well, but obviously that's a while away. What I don't want is to be offered Baby Gaviscon, as from what I've read it can really bung them up, and with him only pooping once every 2 days as it is, and being really grumpy for a few hours before hand, that's the last thing we need. :rotfl:
I'm taking OH with me and Aaron, to see the GP, so hopefully with us both backing each other up we'l be able to get it. If not we'l manage to scrimp to afford it, but whatever happens I don't want my boy going back to like he was before. The frontier is never somewhere else. If it was me, I'd go in 'armed' knowing exactly what you need. I would put it that he needs intervention at every feed. But i think a direct approach is best, if thats what you want. If you go softly softly and let the GP lead the way, one of two things will happen, 1) you will come out unhappy and/or with some other form of medicine that you dont want, or 2) you'll keep having to go back until you get it!:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0

See OH is adamant that we'l be getting it. He isn't prepared to be palmed off, whereas I feel a bit more meek about it. From reading online it's 50/50, some GP's will prescribe, some won't. I do realise how expensive it is, but I've never taken anything off the NHS, with the exception of my maternity care, so I just hope they'l do it. If not I won't stop giving it to him, but it'l be costly for usThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I'll keep fingers crossed for you! Good to know it's working for him......It's strange isn't it that after baby comes, you really will pay out anything for them if it helps!!:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0

Thats great that your OH is determined to get it though!
I would just be honest with the GP, say you know he is benefitting from having it but you are on a low income and finding it very expensive and would like to get it on prescription for him - hopefully you will get an understanding GP!
My GP actually told me when I got my maternity exemption card that it would be the perfect time to try out lots of different eczema treatments (I suffer quite badly at times) to see which one would work while it was free as she realised how costly it could be buying all the creams. She even encouraged me to stock up while I was getting prescriptions free.
For the record I dont think anyone here is going to think your a scrounger for wanting the best for your baby!!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0
