Carmilla- I use a Mai-Tei sling- on Ebay for 9.99. They're adjustable, so would fit any size and shape! Very comfortable too- I use my sling more than the pram.

Nappies- Any seem to work on Rose, equally well. Then again, she's not really squirmy!

Mozzyc- Congratulations! You had a similar length of labour as me, though I didn't tear as deep.... It will take a while- I'm still quite tender and it's 9 weeks later now. Just take it easy for a bit. He sounds lovely.Gilly's right- I was given the same advice. Close the curtains, and let air get at you- it will help! Warm baths as well, and witch hazel.... Drinking plenty of water helps, it stings less! The first few times on a toilet were bad, but it gets easier.... Be careful with lifting as well, make sure you lift carefully and evenly, and don't strain if you can help it. Sorry I can't help with the latching.

Gilly- no advice, I'm sure you've tried everything, but I'll call down and helpout if you need a break?

My sister is toilet-training her child.... her husband found LO sitting on the stairs crying the other night, and asked what was wrong.
'I can't poop in my trousers, i can't poop in my knickers, I can't poop in my bed, I can't poop in my potty, I can't poop anywhere Daddy!'
He told her to try the toilet- two seconds later she was happy!

Any PGP/SPD sufferers.... Anyone any symptoms afterwards? I have no pain, but my pelvis is clicking and popping a bit (that sounds weird, but is true), and it's uncomfortable and pangs a little on one side.
  • Argh! Jack got a little bit of a cold, he all mucusy since yesterday.

Hasn't stopped him from eating, though. Had the usual 5oz at 7.30 (late for him but left him to it since he couldn't sleep right because of it). Then at half 9, he had 3/4 of his bowl of porridge, plus another 5oz, then half 12 he's just had 9oz! Usually only eats 7! Have a feeling more cereal is needed.

I was worrying about weaning him at 12 weeks, but he loves it, and he hasn't had any adverse effects. Wasn't about to talk to HV about it, I hate mine! She always seems like she's looking down her nose at you and doing everything wrong. E.g. he had a bug when he was around 6 months old, I took him to hospital since doctor looked at him that day and sent him home without doing anything. Doc at hospital told us that there was a bug going around ahd he'd probably caught it from somewhere, and she tried to say that we weren't sterilising properly. I'm sure she'd throw a hairy fit if I told her DS was eating porridge for breakfast.

Just wish he would go to sleep now, he was cranky because he's had 20 mins since 8.30, but I've tried everything - his ring, which normally works, he either starts screaming in it or kicks. His crib - he sleeps for about 10-20 mins at a time, then wakes up and laughs at me. Pram, which never fails, has failed. May need to take him a run in the car...

  • Congratulations Mozzy! Sounds like I was lucky with a 10 minute 2nd stage of labour to only end up with a second degree tear... I've found sitting on a normal pillow sometimes better than the doughnut cushion, depending on the chair, so that might be worth a try. Also leaning forwards when doing a wee was better for me!

I've not had any problems with constipation - quite the opposite :( - so I've decided after 4 weeks of iron tablets I'm just going to give up on them, as my stomach really isn't happy. Fingers crossed that will have been enough iron when they re-do the blood tests in a couple of weeks!

Had a lovely 2 days visiting lots of friends and relatives, but I'm so tired today after all the travel and socialising, and Elliot really isn't helping as he's been eating all morning... finally convinced him to have a nap in his moses basket now though.

Elliot had a really revolting 'exploding' poo earlier which came right out of the nappy on both sides, soaked through the clothes and all over his bouncer chair. We were thinking of moving him to the next size of nappy when we run out of the current pack, so now we're definitely going to move him up a size!
  • Lovely, and I thought I was bad the other day, smelled poo, determined what child it was (unfortunately mine), put him on his mat, put my fingers in the waistband of his trousers and my hands were covered! all down the legs, all up the back...and the other three in the room just sat laughing!

I hated the iron tablets, was constipated for ages, then one day I was running to the loo practically all day! Worst thing was that OH was at work so it was just me and DS.

Hiya - had a rough day today so been a bit teary. Ryan is having a crying fit in the middle of bottle even though he got infracol before hand. We tried the next teat size up for 3mths + but I guess he is not ready for this so back to size 2 and will see if its any better. He used to feed at least 5oz at every bottle now its seems to be different amounts sometimes only 3oz - it feels like going backwards sometimes. We are giving him nose drops as he is stuffy. It got to me today as I am slowly recovering from a cold myself so feeling very sorry with myself. Ended up crying whilst trying to talk to the pharamist at Boots.

Need to phone doctor tomorrow as he has been getting blotchy red marks around 1 eye so need to see if they can advise me what to do as I cannot put anything on it as it too near his eyelid.

We are trying other nappies at the moment as pampers leaks poo out of the leg hole and huggies are soaking. Trying the next size up from newborn and fingers crossed no more soaking of clothes.
