Moneypenny, you could also try to put hot water in a thermos beforehand, fill the bottle whenever you need to and cool it down with cold water instead. Cooling down instead of warming up the bottle helps me with leaks, but I'm using different bottles, so the technique might differ. Or try to feed her at room temperature? I just fill the bottle with water from the kettle and close it tight, when I need it I addpowder and feed her. I only give her one warm feed around bed time, to see if she starts making the association of warm feed with sleepy times. Other than that, it's usually room temperature. That way she's used to it and I don't have to look for a cafe or take a thermos when we are out.
How was your check up? They scared me a bit at some point because they said that a bit in the middle of her tummy was protruding out and it could be a hernia. She went to get a second opinion and they agreed she was ok, but now I look at her tummy and wonder if it's that different from other babies. It's as if she had a flat sausage under the skin from ribcage to below her belly button. It's not always there and it's not pronounced, I didn't think it was odd until she pointed it out, and I can only see it when she's moving around. Idk.
Wow moneypenny for half rolling! She has kept her head upright since very early, she can go over half a minute with the head up and tummy down, but no sign of rolling! She only went on her side when arching her back during the reflux periods at 4-6 weeks. I have not seen her doing it since. It's like grabbing, she would grab my finger, my necklace, the muslin... But she would not even touch a toy. She has discovered her hands and she chews on them, puts almost her whole fist in her mouth, she stares at them as if they were magical or something. She also stares at the tv and gives the most awesome smiles to DH when he arrives from work. It's funny, because with me she would smile and wriggle but would look at me all the time, with my DH she smiles and hides, then look again, smiles and hides, as if she were shy, lol. She discovered yesterday that she could put the bottle in her mouth or take it out by moving my hand, she grabs my finger whilst I feed her and when she's full she would push it away, then pull it back, then away, etc. She spent a whole minute doing that yesterday after tthe feed, and she did it again today. She's tried to do the same with her dummy but ended in frustration because obviously she cannot grab it properly or has the precision to put it back in. It worked with the bottle because I lead it and she only pushed and pulled my hand, lol.
I'm going to move her and put her in the moses, let's hope she stats asleep!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I think Moneypenny uses ready made formula
But the water must be 70 degrees or more to kill the bacteria in the milk, so even making 3 or 4 feeds in advance and rapidly cooling is safer than making them up with tepid water xx

Gillyx they gave me that oliatum thing and a cream to put 4 times a day. They did not have it (the cream), so they will deliver it tomorrow. I cannot remember the name now. We have a tippitoes bath, which has a seat, so she cannot slip anywhere. Or I bath with her, but I just sit down, hold her towards me and use the shower hhead. We have only done it a couple of times that way, it's great but I want DH with me whilst I do it so he can wrap her in the towel whilst I have my shower afterwards. I mostly wash her with cotton and warm water, bath twice a week. She's got her dad's sensitive skin! How long until the skin clears and gets better?
Oh, bamama, I remember now you asked before how long until cuddle times. I had an infection and tears all over, so I didn't fancy anything nearby. Afterwards I was just scared. I felt ready to go all the way last week. We have also decided not to use contraception, I want a sister or brother for her, and I'll be 35 next month, so I don't want to delay it, when it happens it happens. It took me half a year before with charts, temperature taking and ovulation strips, so I will leave it to chance now for a while.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

It took a while for us, I bath him every day though with the oilatum as soaking him in the water with it added seems to keep it at bay. Even stupid things flair it up again and it takes weeks to go away again
I stupidly switched washing powder, to non sensitive stuff and his skin was awful again and it took 2-3 weeks for it to die down.

I read that in the NHS book, but the head midwife in my area insists it's ok and that she has not known of any baby getting ill that way. Idk. I heard so many different things about this! They could bloody agree! LolQuit smoking *1st January 2010*

I was told to follow the instructions on the formula. I had a fab midwife who said they'l never tell you the same thing twice so stick to what it said, that way if he was ever ill etc I'd know it wasn't anything I done, but I was a worrier back in the beginning and had the most immense guilt for formula so I think maybe she told me that just to make it clear in my mind and it was on the tub in black and white
I eventually amended it to having all bottles in the fridge with boiled water cooled, and just would heat the water and then add powder. We had wind issues too and warmer milk helps with that, so another reason we done it xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Lovely weather here today - went for a nice long walk at lunchtime
Gilly, good luck for tomorrow. Did you get your pancakes this morning?
Marta, you're scaring me - I'll be 35 in October and there's no way I'd want another one any time soon! I love my little girl to bits, but I can't imagine coping with two tiny ones. We'll see...
Trying an extra nap and a later bedtime tonight to see if she sleeps better - has to be worth a try as it can't really get much worse! Fingers crossed.
Hope everyone has a good night x0 -
No we didn't I was planning on going to Mcdonalds (major  I know) But he's not really that keen on Pancakes and I didn't think there would be anything else he'd like or that would be suitable so went to a local place and got toast and a croissant and shared. He didn't eat v much as he had 3 weetabix before we left the house
Fingers crossed for a good night for you xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Finley is to long for his 0-3 month clothes at 5 weeks and 3 days. Good job I went mad buying clothes and have a stash of 3-6
I have such a sore boob today and can feel a lump. Been applying hot compress znd massaging but it does not feel any different. Hoping I wake up and it is magically better.
Hope everyone has a good night, Finley is having a hungry day so he will have me up every couple if hours.0 -
Feed feed feed tazzy. While feeding, stroke the bump as firmly as you can , going towards your nipple. Also could try doing that with a hot shower on your boob? Shower pressure always made me absolutely pour in the early weeks0
