I don't think solid food does make a difference imo anyway :( It didn't for us. How often does he wake Fluff? Will he settle without food or does he need fed every time he wakes?

Wakes about six times a night. I've not really tried to settle him without the boob because I can't face the prolonged crying. I know that's the only way to really deal with it, but I'd rather he be eating more during the day before I attempt it.

Normally I don't mind - it's my choice after all so I feel in control. Just feeling shattered today but that's not his fault - that's my pesky bowels!

And my hair that all fell out after having Freddie is starting to grow back and I've got mental inch long tufts at the front. Honestly, if he wasn't so cute, I'd send him back :D

He will grow out of it, I would imagine so if you're happy to continue feeding him I wouldn't bother.

The only thing that made A sleep through was more milk during the day not food, but I know Freddie feeds quite often.

Another thing too, once they get into the habit of it, it's so much better I find even if A has a bad day with food now and eats very little he still sleeps through, he wont wake with hunger but by morning he is ravenous.

Edit: Same with the hair, loads of little tufts at the front. How surprised I was at the year mark my hair started to fall out in clumps again, not quite as bad as PP but not nice either. It's stopped again.

I've been lucky on the hair front - my hair grew like crazy & got really thick during pregnancy, and I haven't really lost any. So to make up for that, LO is making sure that she pulls out a handful every now and then. 'Cause we wouldn't want to get complacent about having decent-looking hair, would we?....

Oh we don't get handfuls pulled - we'll lie there and grin and very gently tease out a really small tuft of hair from my ponytail, and then yank like mad so it really really hurts!

My hair's just got ridiculously long.

This nap isn't happening - she's turned around feet to head, rolled onto her front and is now pulling all the Discworld books off the bookshelf into her cot to play with/chomp.

did anybody started off bf then switched to bottle feeding? how did u do it?
Im at my ends here, all day with my boob out and shes still hungry, nap times and night times are the worst, she wants to sleep with my njipple in her mouth and if i take it off she wakes up and cry, do i need to say why my nipples are killing me ? they had no rest for almost a month now. it is killing me not to have any time for my 5 yo also. im pro bf but in this case it is not working for me, i feel a bit guilty and need re assurance, i will ask oh what he thinks a;though i know deep down i really do not want to continue, i do not think it is a big deal, i was myself bottle feed and survived fine.

Morocha it is completely fine to bottle feed. It will do your wee one no harm and if it saves your sanity it's for the best.

But to me it sounds like silent reflux, refluxy babies will feed and feed and feed, as although it's the thing causing the pain is also helps sooth the pain. Dairy and soya can aggravate reflux, Iv heard of a woman recently who after having her baby constantly attached to her nipples for 6 months, very cranky, just an unhappy baby cutting out dairy and her baby is completely different, will go to other people, no longer feeding constantly etc.

Definitely something to look into that and the silent reflux if you'd like to continue breastfeeding. If you swap over, do it gradually or your boobs will feel like theyre going to explode :rotfl:

Morocha, I struggled along with bf for 3 weeks and was utterly miserable. Switched to formula, felt incredibly guilty, but it was the right decision for me. My boobs really hurt for a few days so I did a bit of expressing to relieve the pressure, but my supply soon dwindled and stopped altogether. I now have a happy, healthy and thriving 9-month-old. I'm still pro bf but not any cost - do what's right for you. A supportive OH helps though - if you're feeling guilty some non-emotional man talk really helps! Mine told me that what our little girl needed most of all was my love and care, and I was giving her that. Good luck whatever you decision and a big hug to you x
