Morning ladies
We had a mixed night last night, he's been teething quite badly for a few days and has got in the habit of waking around midnight when I've been calpolling as nothing else settled him. Last night he woke up but as he'd been fine all day teeth wise we decided against calpol - hour later he finally settled. So that wasn't great but then up at 3 for his usual feed and slept through til 7.30. Hopefully we'll be able to lose the midnight wake up and get down to the 3am call for milk, which I'm quite happy with for the time being....
Sounds like he's dancing in his cot, this pulling himself up business is damn frustrating at nap times!
Have a good day all, Nutella what are you planning to cook? I need to sort out our meal plan for this week, freezer is jam packed so theoretically should be an easy week...
Hope you have a better night tonight, and no midnight dancing!
I've been clearing out the freezer over the past week to get lots of empty plastic tubs - she's been eating defrosted dinners for a week now! I want to try some Heinz recipes tomorrow:
- Lentil and coconut dhal (www.heinzbaby.co.uk/products/recipes/lentil-and-coconut-dhal-with-naan-bread-fingers.aspx - will also be throwing in some spinach)
- Tomato & mozzarella pasta with basil (www.heinzbaby.co.uk/products/recipes/tomato,-mozzarella-pasta-stars-with-basil.aspx)
- Sweet potato cottage pie (www.heinzbaby.co.uk/products/recipes/sweet-potato-cottage-pie.aspx)
...and carrots, broccoli and cheese, which I've made before and which she loved: www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/babies-9-12-months/carrots-broccoli-cheese. The latter is mush though
I gave her hummous for the first time yesterday, and she didn't like it! She normally loves her bread, but yesterday she was just sitting there clutching it and staring at it, as if she was thinking 'what have you done to my bread?!...'0 -
I use yoghurt pots with clingfilm over the top to freeze portions - seems to defrost into a decent sized meal for her (especially with yoghurt).
I've just done another AK vegetable and cheese one which was carrots, cauliflower and courgettes (she loves courgettes strange child) - that one went down a treat, and I didn't mash it at all, just made sure I chopped the carrots smaller than I would have done making it for just us.
I quite regularly do tomato-type pasta sauces with baby sized pasta bits (going to try her on some of the easier eaten adult sized bits soon though - things like bows where the pasta's fairly thin sheets) but mine are no recipe and just winging it (normally when I'm making spag meatballs for us I just nick some of the tomato sauce out for her) chucking whatever I feel like into the sauce... I don't have the patience to follow recipes much!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Sammie, we have our development check this Friday, they do them at 8 months here. Have been sent a long questionnaire to complete and bring along, must admit I haven't looked at it yet - will do it the day before as she seems to do something new every day at the moment, so who knows what she's able to do by Friday!?...
We're not worried about anything to do with her development though, so I'm treating it as a formality like all the other HV stuff.

My LO loves baby pasta too, lumps and allI usually roast a pile of veg (courgette, carrot, tomato, onion, aubergine etc. plus some dried herbs) and then whizz with a blender to make a sauce, which I eat too once I've added some salt and pepper.
I like the sound of carrot, cauliflower and courgette, might try that once I've bought some cauliflower - one of the few vegetables I don't seem to have in my fridge
By the way, for anyone else embarking on weaning, I've found this website invaluable: www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com. It's American, so some of the measurements and vegetable names need de-coding, but it's sooo useful! Especially the 'baby foods recipes and tips' section - it lists all the main fruit and veg, explains their nutritional value, any allergy risks, when to introduce them etc. and then has recipes.0 -
Thanks fluff - two nights back he was grunting after every night feed (before then he'd peacefully drift back to sleep!). Last night only woke once and no grunting... Ah well take each day/night as it comes!
Marta, there might be something in the pram idea although tbh he's not been in one yet! What works here is to sit him upright facing you and bounce him gently up and down. Good news on yoursling, hope you'll manage to put a pic up it sounds great.
We went baby swimming today and he seemed to like it0 -
First night in a sleeping bag here. So paranoid she will overheat the rubbish cardboard thermometer tells me it's 21 degrees but my skin is begging to differ so she is in a 2.5 tog. Not sure it's worth it if I don't sleep through the night for worrying!
she looks so flipping cute in it! Right that's two hours of nightime nightmares done so hopefully take is now asleep for more than five minutes! Almost time for another feed of course! Word of the wee( next 5 years): relentless!

Can't believe that my little one is almost a month!
Am I crazy dreaming about the next baby??? I want to be pregnant again and have another newborn. God having babies is addictive. :rotfl:. I know that I have to wait as I had a section plus we can't really afford a second baby :( . At least not NOW.:(:(:(
Anyhow, I need to start a routine with my little one as she got used sleeping on our chest and now she hates her cotI know is our fault as we can't stand hear her cry and we pick her up as soon as she start crying. I just feel really bad when she cries. Any advice or tips on how make her sleep in her cot by herself?
Also she hates sleeping on her back. Everytime when we put her on her back she starts screaming. I know babies shouldn't sleep on their tummies but that's the only way she will sleep. Any advice?

Hi Aida! Not got much advice for you but Dewi tends to wake when we turn him onto his back after he's been lying on our chests. I try to just get up slowly... tip him on his side and then his back. Obviously pausing at each stage/when he stirs.
Sure someone else will have some much better advice! Oh... try warming the cot with a hot water bottle. She's been all toastie on you so the bed will feel cold and could wake her. Also try putting in one of your worn tops... she'll get comfort from smelling you.0
