Bf support came today and suggested I should get domperidone to increase milk supply.I've read the description and there are a few side effects and contraindications that worry me. Anyone knows anything about this? I definitely haven't got enough milk, I should be pumping between 1 and 2 ounces, and I don't make a quarter if lucky. DH doesn't like the idea of taking it and there are some reports that increase the sodium levels on the baby to dangerous levels.

So cute the wrapping incidents lol, I laughed just imagining the picture.

My baby was on domperidone himself. Not sure about any side affects though. x

  • No presents wrapped here either, I only get time to feed myself, my baby and do a small amount of housework, I did think i would have time to do stuff but my lo doesn't nap well.

Swimming, we are taking Niall next week for the fist time, he will be 19 weeks, don't want to leave it too late and him be afraid of water. Not too happy about little guy having to put up with the chlorine, we will have to try and keep it out of his eyes. We do have a chlorine free pool nearby but there are set sessions and it would be had to get there at a set time.

The board, it keeps get renamed etc confusing!

I am in bed on the iPad, dh is out at Christmas party. Little guy has just woke, what'd timing! Lol

The OH takes domperidone. As far as I can tell, it's pretty much side-effect free. Plus you can buy it OTC nowadays (motilium's the brand name) so it must be pretty safe if they trust you to buy and take it yourself! (Obv, you'll be getting it prescribed if you do decide to take it).

Personally I think the benefits of breastmilk outweigh any possible adverse effects of taking domperidone but that's very much a personal view, of course. I've not heard about the sodium to be fair, but I do know that domperidone (and metoclopramide) are very commonly prescribed to increase milk production so there's a wealth of data out there. If the drugs were dangerous it would be known and they wouldn't be being prescribed.

I don't think you're quite ready to give up on breastfeeding yet so why not give it a go x.

Remember as well that your baby is more efficient at getting milk out of you than you are with a pump. You might think you're only producing tiny amounts (because that's all you get when you express) but if your baby's suckling well at the breast, she'll no doubt get much more.

The first three or four weeks of breastfeeding are hell. It gets better I promise.

Can anyone recommend a travel cot? I'm thinking of getting the Mothercare Sleepwalker (link below). Anyone got one?

We bought the £20 one from Asda in the baby event, pops up and down easy enough, comes with a bag. Only thing we did was buy an extra thick mattress from Amazon (£25) I think. Slept in it for a week when we visited my folks and slept great :)

  • Marta honey, pumping output has no link to how much milk you make, and if your health visitor is telling you otherwise then she's full of crap :(

There are other things you can take to increase your milk supply, if you are not comfortable with that one (although as fluff says, it is available over the counter). Oats are great, you can take fenugreek supplements, and barley malt (drinks like "super malt" etc from world foods section of supermarket). And keep hydrated, it sounds like a small thing, but keep drinking as being dehydrated wont help.

Hi guys. Hope your all well?

We ordered Jake a jumperoo for Xmas today. Can't wait for it to come :) also bought him a snug seat. We were going to buy him a new car seat and looked at a britax Lisa which is birth to 4 years but the woman in mothercare said it wouldn't fit in our car - an O2 zafira. Does anyone have any recommendations x
