Thank you very much again for all the advice. The mw came today and my LO has put some weight back, still under the birth weight but she will be weighted again on Sunday, day 10, and I think by then she might have put it all back. It was such a relief to see she had put some weight on!!
On the BF front, I still feel very conflicted. I have someone from the breastfeeding support group coming tomorrow, we'll see. The last time I expressed I got like 0.2oz in 40min. Same the previous time, and about 0.4 the time before. Definitely not enough!! She's feeding just over an ounce from the bottle but needs to increase it to 3, according to all the information I got. I'm still giving it a go, but I am starting to feel that I might be obsessing with it, and at the end of the day my LO is now getting better and stronger anyway. I felt I was losing a bonding experience, but I can still have skin to skin. On top of it all this stress has brought me a flare up in a condition I've got, and it's making me feel double tired and miserable. My DH supports me in whatever.I decide, but I can see he's in favour of continuing with formula, he wants to buy more bottles.I just want the best for her, like everyone else here, and I'm conflicted because I do not know how much of the information I've got about BF is propaganda and whether I'm obsessing about benefits that maybe are a bit biased or just more likely to happen, but not definitely will happen. Both my DH and I were bottle fed with formula from the late 70s, which probably was not half as good as nowadays, and we turned out ok.. Argh, idk, I am torn in two, I can see benefits in both, and I'm trying to keep my chances up by expressing, but I'm feeling so low atm that I also think that maybe what I need to do is accepting it and enjoy the feeding moment itself, however it's done.
On the website, I leave the tabs open, both in the laptop and the phone. I put the settings on the laptop to remember the tabs that were open when I close the browser, so when I open it again they automatically load, therefore I always continue reading from the last page I read and I do not have to do anything. I di the same on the phone, it automatically remembers the tabs I have open, and I can leave the browser and come back to it, and find the tabs still there. If I lose them for whatever reason, I go to the history section and click in the most recent page from th thread. I do not know if the thread moves or boards disappear because I come directly to this and the pregnancy thread.
My mw showed us how to bath a baby with the bath full when my lo was 24h!!! She loved it, she wad so calmed and peaceful that she fell asleep and let the mw move her around and make her float from one side to the other. I haven't manage to master the technique and we have been too worried and busy.with other things as to keep doing it, but my mw said she encourages people to bath their babies as many times a week as they want and in full baths, as well as going to the swimming sessions for babies. She put her arm behind the baby's neck and shoulder with the hand holding her around the underarm. Then she put the other hand under her knees and slowly put het in the bath. Once she was there, she moved the hand from under the knees to the top of the belly and pushed gently down so the belly was submerged. In this posture, the baby feels an arm around the neck, shoulder and ribs, and the other one on top of the chest. She felt secure and allowed herself to go to sleep,I guess it reminded her if being in the womb.
I haven't seen sexymouse in a while, is she ok?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Marta - :j LO gaining! Sorry just lost a long post!
Basically I think that you have to think of your health if you have someone coming to try and help with feeding give it a bash and if it doesn't work out then you've done your best. To turn round breastfeeding does require a lot of perserverance but even with the best will it doesnt always happen. Your tired, you've had a baby and they are hard work !! If you can't do breastfeeding it's not the end of the world. I'm glad your husband is supportive. I did combo for as long as I could (he was mainly formula and bm was really a top up) but it was not easy !! I hated expressing, my nips murdered at times, hubby was able to help with feeding because of doing both also I've seen both sides so to speak there are benefits and disadvantages to both but the end of the day I think baby just wants to be fed and probably doesnt care it is Us mums that do all the worrying !
The bathing sounds lovely ! I'm sure LO loved that. Re swimming personally we waiting a long time only because friends I knew their babies got I'll after swimming when very young mainly tummy bugs but that is my personal choice and others think differently.0 -

Marta- also re the propaganda thing it's a difficult one, obviously the nhs does heavily promote it and they must have research there BUT nothing is ever guaranteed and you have to make your own mind up, but I stress that whatever you do bubs will be fine.0

Morning
Thanks for thinking of us Ro, Ellie's still a bit bunged up, but much happier this morning. Bad sleeping though, we were up at 1, 3, 5 and 7, normally she only wakes at 4 and 7. Short feeds each time, but as she's struggling to breathe I think she's finding feeding very tiring and falling asleep before she's really done, hence waking soonerhopefully she'll be better today, we're going shopping and she normally sleeps well in the pram

Swimming we went as soon as we could find swim nappies that fitted (so size 2 nappies) basically... we have both sets of grandparents living by either rivers or lakes so it's kind of a priority for us. No bugs, no illnesses picked up, no explosive poos in the pool - just idiotic daddies getting great big galumphing toddlers to jump in right on TOP of us - prats!
Did have her booked on aquababies but my hips and pelvis started to give up so I was struggling getting in and out of the pool myself - and it was the usual mummy group around here clique who blank everyone else out (delightfully the only brigade at baby group this week as well) so I didn't finish the course with her.
And god I'm sick of passive-aggressive tiny little jibes to run others down competitive mummies at the moment... and that's BEFORE I endure Xmas with my witch of a cousin who's the worst for this (she tries it this year I'm going to ask which organisation recommended tinned ravioli full of salt and cow testicles as a suitable weaning food).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Marta glad LO has gained a bit, must be such a relief! Hope the bfing helper is useful, but if not its really not the end of the world - happy mummy = happy baby so try to not stress too much (easy for me to say, I know!)
Hope Ellie feeling better now LM, and you get your shopping done!
I've got the house pretty much cleaned through, got some washing to hang up when monkey wakes up. OH is going to have to do the wrapping though as I've got more work to do. We just got our last Amazon delivery, got a Lamaze Rusty the Robot on cheap so think thats the last bit we need for the wee man. Unless I spot anything else this afternoonLuckily there aren't really any toy shops in our home town so I can't get too carried away.
Sammie enjoy having your OH home for a bit!
Oh and swimming, I've only taken George once and that was a few weeks ago. MIL is dying to take him while we're up there - apparently the pool near her has loads of fountains and things in the kids pool. Not sure how he'll be with that as I was too chicken to dunk him last time. Knowing him he'll take it all in his stride thoughNewborn thread member
