Morning, I have not been on much recently as you know, as been doing work on our house. Being very :money: about it all - but it has meant that the paying small amounts off cards etc has slowed right down..as we are using sales proceeds to pay for builders, paint etc when we need it. We have the last bit of work being done by a professional this week that we cant do ( or attempt to do) ourselves - which is replastering of a wall. Which some may say we could have a crack at - but we whilst we can dabble in most things, I think that may just be a step too far :D So we have got a professional in. Thats being completed this week - I have half the money required, and have still some things ending shortly which will make up the balance of his costs - then I should be back to card overpayments.:T Which I am looking forward to - i think I am very weird, getting excited about overpayments:rotfl: Anyway it works in our world, so thats all good.
But yes there is always a but...I finally get DH on board ( and that was a long time coming) and he has now thrown a spanner in the works as he wants to focus on our loan.As from his view if we can clear this - we will be £440pm better off. this can then be used to overpay cards, but if we have a tight month we have this as "spare cash" that we would not usually. Now whilst I applaud his getting onboard he has now started me questioning whether I have been doing the clearing in the right way...oh well its all going the right way I suppose. I just like the closing the account and seeing 0 on your final statement it is what keeps me focussed..but I now need to find my "fix" some other way so i can stay focussed on this.
Oh well I am sure after catching up with some diaries I can borrow a couple of ideas :rotfl:
Anyway off to work now, take care x

And so I can honestly say today ( and I do not know why) I have been feeling really low about the debt we are in..:( I know we have made huge impacts on where we started, but i really feel like we will never get there..I wont go into detail, but basically this has increased quite a bit..still below where we started and we had to and I mean we had no other option..It was much less than it could of been, but still a kick in the head..:o. I have started the bay of e with a vengance but am still feeling like we will never be out of this..Weird as last week I was really positive about it all and this week not so much..Sorry I am rambling I know, but am hoping by writing it down i will feel better about it all.I am determined to clear it all - but really am at a loss as to whether my approach has been worth it. I am off to give myself a good talking too and hopefully be my usual positive self over the next few days..

Yay its Friday.:j Thankfully I am in a little bit of a better place than the last time I posted. Not much better but it all counts. So not much really to report..bay of e items do not finish until next week. A few things sold - but only the cheaper bits but it all helps right?
So one things I did do is get another loan..now before i get lectured..I have my reasons. We already have a loan which has 21 months left to run on it..but I have just got a replacement loan for 2 years to pay the other one off and it is 100 pm cheaper in payments. So I figure I can use that to pay other debts and for the 3 months extra i am having to pay - I will have saved that and more in monthly interest saving..i.e. 3 months less with existing loan £300.00 but £2400 saved in payments alone..so add in the £300 have saved £2100. Not bad for a 10 minute application I think :D.i probably have not explained it right, but it saves us £100pm and we can overpay if we want to with no charges.
Did think about getting a consolidation loan for everything but having read various diaries etc I do not think that is a great idea. infact having little targets and having to budget however hard is teaching us more that a pay it all off and monthly payment ever will. Well it works for us anyway.
So am off to focus on my next target which is another dreaded CC..bit larger than the others I have cleared but it needs to go so thats next..
Ebay listing frenzy as well I think this weekend..you never know I could do well - and its only gathering dust here.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

So lets totally scrap previous post - it would seem my plan of action is not a plan :o..oh well back to basics..one debt at a time.:money:

So had a few bits sell on ebay over the weekend - but listed more than I sold, so hopefully over the next week they will all sell..each £ makes a difference.

Off to do HW and ironing, and then tackle the garden. If i still have the energy off to the gym and some more listing later.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hello Aamberle, I think you are doing great and those motivational ups and downs are par for the course. I know I swing between passionate determination to get it all paid off and sheer terror at being in so much debt. The only way, as you say, is one debt at a time. One foot in front of the other. Backwards is not an option.

Just think about how much you cleared last year. You are definitely better off than when you started and as long as your ship continues in the same general direction, you will get there. Hugs and optimism to you! X

  • So here we are in another week. I hope everyone had a great weekend and took great advantage of the free listings :T. I know I did..

So what have I been up to ?? Well hoping to have finally pulled myself back up and in focus to clear this debt.I transferred another card over on to 0% until April next year. Hoping it will be gone before then, but at least i will be hitting the debt rather than the interest, which can only be a good thing :D.In other MSE news - had a bit of a result today. Got sent a CC statement ( that I had about a year ago)and I am £65.00 IN CREDIT:j. So rang them up just to check that was right, and it was so am getting that transferred to my bank account. And have asked them to close the account. So thats another amount I was not expecting. So live in my world of fantasy that all the cards I have had over the years - will suddenly start writing to me and they all owe me money :rotfl: Well a girl can dream can't she?

Anyway I have been very busy over the weekend listing anything I can that will make me some £'s..loads to go as well. Even DH has been sorting a few bits..which is a massive deal. As I think he believes in the world of what if..what if I need it, what if you need it..etc etc you get the idea. But no all on his own without I hasten to add any prompting from me ( for a change) he passed me some things to help.So whilst I think his determination is not quite on the same level as me - it is making a guest appearance every now and again. So I cant really complain..well i could but I wont.:rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway better be off now..busy busy

    Have a great day X

  • Morning - I really do need to keep posting on here, it really does keep me focussed.:D
So good news I have reached the next magic number down..:j Updated my signature and am now looking/ planning my next route of attack.
We go away for a week next week - so will be spending some of that time, working on ways to win DH fully over:rotfl: But if that does not happen - will carry on asis. Its going in the right direction..So having a bit of a hard time emotionally at the moment, few concerns about my job, debt still way too high, and at some point I really need to write a full an final list of everything owed ( inc mort) - but for now I will stick with this, as whilst I am working on this the minimums on everything else is happening - and so when I get to end of this journey, everything should be either gone or a lot smaller - I know what I owe to everything but really do not want to put it on here, I need to focus on the real debts like the CC;s etc.. The other is for my car which is on a lease - so technically not mine, all covered in the SOA, and there may be a chance that in the next 6 months or so i end up with a company car - so I will need to sell it or hand it back ( gone over 1/2 way) and dealership said I could just had in back! Not so sure its that easy but hey if the issue arises i will look into it.
Anyway other than that sales going well - if not a little slow..but have not listed this weekend, as will not be here when they finish so will have lots to do on my return. Have not brought any new clothes for holiday, using what i own already - so a saving there.:money:
Anyway got to go..be back later x

So not been on for a while updating my diary - but still hard at it! Debt busting that is.Just updated my signature and am very pleased that I am in the 2's.:j:j. Still a long way to go but I am getting there..
OH just sold his MBike which is great just clears the balance - but it means that he is better off each month, so I will sow the seed of making a bit more of a payment to his card each month - but it may take a while..what with Christmas coming up :rotfl:
Anyway its all good, maybe not how others would approach it - but it is definately changing spending habits.:money:
I do owe more than what is the final figure on my signature - but as these are loans and regular monthly payments - I am paying these off with the mindset that these clear at teh same time if not before the signature figure. I know exactly what the figures are - but the above are cards and once the 0% disappears they will cause the most issues - so there the ones I am focussing on..It makes sense in my world anyway. Bay of E is still doing ok for me - only little things really selling no hugely expensive itesm left - they have already gone:) So it really is now focus and sales little and often. But onwards and upwards I will clear these..I really will!
I hope everyone is well - still reading the diaries, and am still hugely motivated by peoples achievements.

Anyway off now - have a good debt busting day XX
