VALUE FOR MONEYFerf described very eloquently what there is to do in Vegas if you don't gamble. We do a little now, but for the first few years we didn't gamble at all!
Last year we spent a total of 17 weeks in Las Vegas and the surrounding area, and didn't get bored once.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEY17 weeks...that's just so cool, so jealous! Though as we DO gamble quite a bit of the time, pretty sure we could never do it.
I think one of the great things about Vegas is the suprising things you discover exist...things like the habitat at Flamingo...we had been to Vegas and Flamingo many, many times and never knew that existed until someone (stoneman, I think) mentioned it in a post here. There's just so much to see, you can easily miss things. It was one of the places we made sure to take the in-laws as it's just not something you expect to find out back of a casino, and is such a nice little oasis.
There are also the museums like the Atomic Testing Museum, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (Monet exibit during our next trip may be part of the plan), Bodies exhibit, Titanic exhibit, CSI Experience, etc...Secret Garden, and that Roos N More place we went to last trip, still one of our all-time Vegas highlights...and Las Vegas Mystery Adventures...Ethel M Factory tour (ok, it wasn't that exciting, but the cactus garden was really cool , we thought)...have your photo with $1,000,000 for free (a bit cheesy, but it's a million dollars!)...pretty sure if we all chipped in we could come up with a list that would fill a LOT of days.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
CASINOSThere is also the new waterpark (splash canyon) opening May 2012.
I'll be going with my 2 boys in August :j0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYspeaking of things to do in Vegas.
Has anyone ever done the below the scenes tour at the aquarium in the Forum Shops? The one near the Cheesecake factory? It's been on the list for ages, and I can find references to it (3:15 M-F, free)...but not on Caesars website.
It also used to be the case that at least Wynn and Bellagio, at a particular time each day you could join a tour (usually starting at the concierge desk) of the really, really fancy rooms- like the ones most of us would have to take a second mortgage to afford (assuming they were not occupied, of course)...not sure if they still do that...another thing that was on the list years ago and sort of got forgotten about.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

somehow I have completely missed this being in the works...no kids, but a husband how does like to splash about a fair bit...so this will go on the list for a warmer-weather trip (on a weekday!)Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Hi everyone, my OH and I have just booked to go to Vegas in May this year to get married, we will be on a tight budget so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My OH is in the Armed Forces, does anyone know if many places offer discounts to British Military?
Splash Canyon as above. At least it says Military with ID.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Excellent thanks for that! Currently booked in to The Signature at MGM Grand for 3 nights (Sunday 13th May - Wednesday 16th) and its around $400 inc taxes. Looks good on Trip Advisor but it would be nice to save some money.
The new Grand King room at the MGM looks to only be $230 plus taxes, around $80 a night.
Think I might cancel the Signature

US Embassy website:

If traveling under the Visa Waiver Program, the passport must be valid for at least 90 days from the date on which the holder enters the United States. If not, the holder will be admitted until the expiration date on the passport. Note: Passport holders from Brunei, Lithuania, and Slovakia must be in possession of a passport valid for at least six months from the date of departure from the United States, even if traveling visa free under the Visa Waiver Program.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
