just going through all the info, there isn't a huge amount of MSE advice/info... so it might be handy if people would be kind enough to think about any tips/advice on money-saving, from flights to hotels to general advice0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYHi all! I hope everyone had a good Xmas.
I was just wondering if anyone knew any offers on hotels.
I am going to Vegas on the 3rd April for 1 week, this will be our 3rd time in Vegas. We have stayed at the MGM Grand and the Paris hotel before. We are currently looking at prices for a 4 star hotel and the prices are coming out at £600 for a 4* hotel.
We usually pay around £400, so was just wondering if there are any offers about at the moment or are we booking too early?
Check the links on page 1 for potential hotel deals, but there's an 85k person convention from 8th to 11th (so people may arrive the weekend before) which could be pushing rates up for the period.
Just checked and it's NAB - which is one of the biggest conventions of the year.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Part of me thinks it's easier to have the info on the first page - easier to send people to it...it's not much more effort to send people to the first page to get a link to an external website, but not sure if it saves any time/effort in maintaining the basic info - though I've never had to transfer from one year's thread to another so maybe it would save a lot of time for whoever is administering it...but part of me thinks people would be more likely to read through info on the first page rather than going somewhere else for it, maybe? Hard to say which would be easier for new users.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thats what i think.
I think it took me an hour or so to edit last years trhread initially but i did leave most of it pretty much as found
there are many moneysaving tips on the first pages (or at least links).
When Trets first set the sticky thread up he asked me amongst others for input, although of course this was a few years ago and things have changed alittle, i did update many things on those sticky posts during the course of the year.
I dont understand what is meant by linking to wordpress, anything more than copying and pasting is to complicated for me, at the end of the day Secretmachines is taking over and if it can be made better then thats a good thing.0 -

There used to be many more Hotel deal sites than there currently are, but I think the links are still there.
Not sure if Rest.com is linked
but the ACG and the LVA are linked and they are prob the best 2 ways to save once you are there
|Its worth siging up to Groupon Vegas for their daily deals0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYThis hotel + flights thing on expedia is a better deal it seems than booking seperate?
Looking at the 26th or 27th or October for 6 nights works out for the direct flights from VA from London £656 i think it was but with a hotel (strat) its £740 with direct flights for the 6 nights?
Is it worth everyone checking the expeida flight + hotel thing someone mentioned higher up or is it just luck?0 -

Why not do a combination of both? ie summarise each topic in post 1 to make it easier to read, and then have all the detail in subsequent posts (all in the VegasMSE thread) eg post 2 is hotels, post 3 is flights, post 4 is food, post 5 is shopping etc. That keeps it all in the one place. You'll need to reserve say the first 10 posts now, before regular punters get in and wishing each other happy new year!!!
Just my 2p.....and happy new year....and well done secretmachines for volunteering. :T:Tillegitimi non carborundum0 -

VALUE FOR MONEYThanks guys, am doing exactly that Frogitt and breaking the info into sections - there's quite a bit of old info to delete and new info needed. But am happy to manage it and have the first pages as ongoing as possible. Happy to do whatever is best for everyone :-)
That's a good idea about reserving the first few posts, I think Crabman can always rearrange them :-)0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYThanks secretmachines for taking this on. Much appreciated. Thanks also to froggit and photome for keeping the thread current for all this time.
A really good resource, I appreciate almost ever post.
Happy New Year to one and all.0
