thanks guys, all interesting info i've not come across before :)

regarding M+M bookings, are you able to book 2 tickets together - given that I have an account with miles on, and the OH has a separate account? I guess you have to call as there seems to be no way of doing it online, other than making 2 separate purchases?

Yes you have to call, thats what we did and they were really good, merged the two together, as we had to book 2 adults and 2 children.

i think the whole VA fleet out of Gatwick has been refurbed now, so it's a half-decent experience for economy. to be honest even in the old planes i wasn't that fussed... the flight is a means to an end, that's all, anything nice is a bonus :D

Seven out of the eight 747's have been refurbished. The last one isn't being done as it leaves the Virgin fleet sometime between now and March 2013.

So until it goes, you still have a one in eight chance of getting the unrefurbished plane.

Just thought I'd share I booked a direct flight Man - Las for about £440. The flight is with thomas cook but booked through condor.com and paid in US$ as it worked out about £100 cheaper than paying i Euros due to the exchange rate. Obviously it depends on how you pay for it as some cards will add on their own charges but cheapest direct flight I've seen for quite a while:j

just wanted to quickly say I hope everyone has a great Christmas! And thanks to photome for looking after this thread this year, and trets for starting it originally, and everyone for posting such great and helpful info for all of us to benefit from.:)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

  • Going to Vegas with my sister on the 3rd Feb. She will be playing poker a lot of the time, so I will be entertaining myself. I have previously been to Orlando and Benidorm on my own, so not bothered that she'll be busy.

I was just wondering if there was anything in Vegas that you would say was unsuitable to do alone.

strange question to ask, but I think Vegas would be a great place to visit if you're on your own... so I don't think you've anything to worry about in that respect :)
    it's Vegas, anything goes!
