VALUE FOR MONEYObviously easily pleased. Until the whole fleet at LGW is improved this service is pants in all cabins.
Miles and cash is awful these days too:eek:
Def not easily pleased and its a loooong time since I have been on the Gatwick Vegas flight with Virgin as I swore never again about 4/5 years ago. BA are no better, but if you want direct there are not the options or much cheaper prices, the days of sub £500 direct flights being readily available are gone IMO, wish they werent, then I could go more than once a year, unless you know different ?
however you look at it the price is not bad for a direct flight even if it is uncomfortable, full of drunks with rubbish food and no IFE.
Wasnt sure abouthe M plus M as havent looked in ages.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYi think the whole VA fleet out of Gatwick has been refurbed now, so it's a half-decent experience for economy. to be honest even in the old planes i wasn't that fussed... the flight is a means to an end, that's all, anything nice is a bonus0

we do have about 24k miles each, so looking to use those at some point, maybe for LV in September. but even that needs 47500 miles, so to 'top up' will be £360 + £301 for the taxes.
You could open an Amex Gold preferred card (if you qualify) and get 20,000 Mileage rewards which can be converted to (amongst other things) 20,000 Flying club miles.
Get a separate one for the Mrs if possible.
Also go for the Virgin White CC-Gets you 3,000 miles with no fee.
So a few months of planning and you'll have your 47500 for free.0 -

ahh that's interesting... does opening up another a credit card affect your credit rating in any way? I've only ever had one credit card, which i pretty much manage to keep at zero. not something i really want to do, but 20k miles in one hit is quite tempting!0 -
Note that the Amex gold requires a £2k spend in the first 3 months to get the points. You also need a £20k salary.
It's also more of a charge card than a credit card, meaning you have to pay it off within the month of getting the bill.
Worth looking into though
Drop us a PM if you're eligible and want to make some cash from it tho0 -

There will be a credit search (supposedly) so too many applications in one go may affect the rating.
The more (good) credit card history you have the better your rating. (IMHO). Though this rating malarky seems as clear as mud at times.
As has been said the Amex card is a charge card.
The Virgin one is a credit card supplied by MBNA.
BTW
Quidco at present offers £10 cashback so it is better to get referred by another holder.
However the cashback has been higher, so you could wait for a better offer.
That said it takes a while to get the cashback and at times can be a pain.
Once YOU get the card and you've met the spend, then refer your Mrs so you both get some more MR.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYthanks guys, all interesting info i've not come across before
regarding M+M bookings, are you able to book 2 tickets together - given that I have an account with miles on, and the OH has a separate account? I guess you have to call as there seems to be no way of doing it online, other than making 2 separate purchases?0 -

Might be worth price the "saving" first on-line to see if it's worth ringing them.
BTW
If you do go with VS then look at the Itinerary Calendar on V-Flyer to see if anyone can guest you into the lounge.
The Gatwick lounge is not as nice as the LHR one but it's comfortable and free food\drink!0
