VALUE FOR MONEYI have never stayed at Vdara and more than likely never will, It is in the middle of the monstosity that is Citycenter which of course is exactly what it looks like, a scattering of high rise office blocks, there is no casino and it is set back from the strip (prob closer than MGM though which is HUGE)
I have no doubt the hotel itself is great with great rooms but to me its not Vegas
That part of CC is visually quite nice and not like what you see from the Strip. A lot of the rooms have great views, some fountains, some mountains, etc. There's no casino but you're literally a minute or two from Bellagio or Aria casinos, even Cosmo - probably closer to the room than some of the bigger properties. It's not bang on the Strip, but isn't a car ride either.
This is the great thing about Vegas though, there's something for everyone!
Not trying to convert anyone, but just don't want Vegas virgins or lurkers to be put off from what is a stunning all-suite hotel and great value0 -
Where there is a resort fee wifi (or wired in a few cases) is included...where there is no resort fee, you pay for it if you want it.
Some prefer this as they don't want any of the things that are included in a resort fee, so they don't get stuck paying for them via a resort fee.
There are places you can get free wifi...Earl of Sandwich at PH is one.
MGM has never appealed to us - too big for starters.
i like mgm, the pool in itself is amazing the rest of the hotel average, large but the pool area more than makes up for it
(still lurking....although may have convinced misses to let us go to for my stag do 2013!)0 -
BUFFETSHiya saffstar - thanks for posting - could you post / PM me the details for this as I may book it myself
(airport / carrier / departure date & time / return date & time etc)
many thanks
Hiya, sorry for delay.
Lastminute deal was flying from Manchester with Virgin, 23 June @ 12:35pm (I think), arriving in Vegas @ 14:50. Returning 4 July, leaving around 5pm.
I rang them as I wasn't sure re resort fee. The guy phoned Vdara and they confirmed that it's staying at $28 a night (inc tax). With this added on, it bumped the price up to £965 each (we'd still have paid £837 to Lastminute but would have had another £180 for the room on arrival). I then looked at their card handling fees, which put me right off - 2.95% credit card and 1.45% debit card - as the max they can be charged for a debit card transaction is 20p, I thought that was a little over the top!
In the end we booked with Lowcostusa - £970 each inclusive of resort fee and they charge 2% for c cards (paid deposit like this to cover things) but nothing for debit cards. Even though their Topcashback rate is lower (2%) we've still got a slightly better deal from them than we would have got from Lastminute"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now"

MGM has never appealed to us - too big for starters. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
CASINOSOK here is a question. We need to go the a Bank of America in the first couple of days to deposit some money so we can get some out. The nearest one to PlanetHo is the one at the Walmart on Eastern, but when he drops us off how do we get a cab to get back ( we will be in there a bit so don't think it worth getting him to hang on, but am open to correction) As you can see we don't do taxis!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. I've tried to do a quote with lastminute.com. However when I select a different flight it doesn't change it and the details remain with the flight they suggest. I've tried with 3 different browsers.0 -

According to their website there's one at Desert Inn near Maryland Parkway. Would you walk from Platinum to Maryland? Then you could take the local bus north towards Desert Inn. You could also do some shopping at Boulevard Mall then get bus/taxi back? At least you would be able to get a taxi over that way. One time we tried to get a taxi at Walmart on Charleston and we waited almost an hour before going for a bus instead.0 -

Hmm strange, I did a number of different combos and got different prices.... Make sure you start a new search each time, or edit the search rather than hitting the back button... Maybe clear the cache in the browser as well?0
