I'm interested in playing in some poker tournaments so would love some info on where and when to go.
I did a poker trip last year. Played combination of tourneys (lasting 3-4 hours) and cash games. I think its allvegaspoker.com that has the tourney schedule. I did one or two tourneys a day.....played TI, Trop, Mirage, Caesars, Ballys, Harrahs, Excalibur, MGM. Friendliest was Trop, but only a couple of tables. MGM usually has 70-80 players.
Mirage 1-2 was the easiest, mainly due to a drunk salesman who was basically a cash machine at the cash game.
Trop and Caesars best environment - light and quiet.
Generally something like $60+$5 for the above. Wynn and Venetian double the entry.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYRe Orleans.
The Rockabilly festival, held every Easter, is the only time I have seen long lines at Orleans. Last Easter we were checking in when the revellers were all leaving. Check in - tiny line, Check out - long!!!! It made for some very interesting people watching too.0 -
CASINOSin Vegas, they don't want you staying in your room - they want you out of your room and in the casino...may be why they charge for wi-fi...maybe...to discourage people from hanging out in the room and surfing instead of gambling...at least where there's not a mandatory resort fee that covers it anyway...not sure that there are any hotels in Vegas with free wi-fi other than those with resort fees, are there? There are free wi-fi hot spots, sure...but in room you pay for one way or the other, pretty much standard...it's not a Wynn-specific thing or anything.
Platinum doesnt charge for wifi or use of the gym or business centre.
Can I have my commission now?The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I know exactly what you mean about the tattoos! It was the same when they hosted the Burlesque championship.
Great people watching opportunity, but I'm glad we were checking in when they checked out. The cars were interesting too.0 -

Josh, if you are going next week then you are in the middle of the WSOP so lots of choice. Not sure what sort of buy-ins you are thinking of but the Wynn and Venetian have very good structures with buy-ins from $340, Caesars have lower buy-ins (from $130 but they take a bigger percentage in fees and the structures aren't as good.
If you head over to the Rio they have 3 daily tournaments, $235 at 2pm, $185 at 6pm and $135 at 10pm all Ok structures with a 30 min clock. They are generally very soft and have are getting incredible numbers, yesterdays 2pm got just under 1200 runners, first place was over $46k!
Most have daily tournaments including the Venetian $200 7pm, Aria are $125 buy-in at 1pm and 7pm.
I could keep going, there is so much choice and there will be a lot of poker players in town. As Froggit says, if you don't want to be playing for 12 hours at a time then $1-2 cash may be a better option, avoid the rio (very high standard at the cash tables in my experience) and stick to the strip. allvegaspoker.com is a good source as is 2+2.
I'm off to the Wynn in just over a week for 2 weeks of poker! Good luck.0 -
I went to primm specifically to go to the hollister outlet, didnt buy anything but got good deals on hollister at the hollister shop in town square, one example was a pair of sweat pants for $10 ish.
I think there is a hollister store in the fashion show mall so i would head there first if i was you
EDIT
fashionshowmall directory, there is a hollister they always have sales on and they are much cheaper than the UK to start with

Ahh thanks for that, not there too long so would be handy to not have travel too far.0 -
HOTELSPaying for Wi-Fi is standard everywhere in Vegas -and TBH free Wi-Fi elsewhere in the US is not as common as you imply. For example Marriott charge for it at all their hotels. Drop down a bit in grade to three star and yes outside of Vegas free Wi-Fi is really common .
I would concur with this
Mini-bars are a rip off everywhere -and again the trembler is certainly not specific to the Wynn .
True.
Resort fees-Meh ! Sadly a way of life in Vegas now -except for one hotel group .
I stayed at the Pallazzo (sp?) and said I was not happy paying the resort fee
when I checked in. After a pregant pause the check in clerk waived the fees for both rooms (saved $120).
So always worth asking politely if they can waive the fee as you won't be using the Gym/Phone/paper etc .0 -
CASINOSOur biggest gripe about the hotel was the very very loud disco that often goes on until 5.00am. Two of our party had rooms on the golf course side on the 35th floor and could not sleep due to the disco. We were on the strip side and had no issues. This was a huge issue - the hotel gave my sister a $200 bar credit because of the noise. You would not expect an issue like this in a 5 star hotel - even in Vegas.
The nightclub (disco is a bit 70s) noise is a well known issue at Wynn/Encore. I generally stay Wynn Tower Suites on the golf course side and have not had much of a problem. It's worse further down the hotel, and at Encore in some of the rooms.
I agree it's not good.0
