Just looking for something for the first 4 days. Im looking at either the jockey club or the platinum. Both the same price but from the pics the pool at the platinum looks far better. Only downside is that it looks quite far off the strip

It's a 5-7 minute walk to the side/downstairs entrance of Bally's I think...or thereabouts...I haven't stayed at either, but Jockey Club is pretty much hemmed in now, isn't it?

    There's a picture here:

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Havent stayed at either platinum prob just to far away for me and the jockey club pool area looked awful from my balcony at the Cosmo and as Ferf says it is completely in the shadow of everything around it

Platinum isn't far away, and it's really nice. You should definitely consider it.

Hmm the jockey club does look a bit rough in those pics.

Probably go for the Platinum. Just really after somewhere to relax and soak up the sun for a few days first. Whats the area like around the platinum? is it safe to walk to late at night

Thats all relative though, I do fancy the Platinum but I hate/struggle walking, its to far from the strip for me and of course no casino.

    perfect for relaxing though

PAULIY yes its safe to walk to and from at night

Hi has anyone been on the thomas cook flight from Manchester? Any experiances
Just managed to get on this Wednesdays flight for £450 seemed a good deal.

TC flight from Manchester is OK, more leg room than Virgin but IFE not up to much. We didnt have the food so can't comment on that and luggage allowance is stingy but for that price I would do it again.

Hi Pauliy, i own a timeshare at the jockey club, and to be honest it depends what your after, if its the pool then i agree with others about the platinum, however i get to use the pool at the cosmo as im a owner, not sure if that applies to you.

I can say that although the jockey club looks rough on the outside, it is lovely inside and the staff are great, also they refurbed the whole building 18 months ago.

Overall i love the jockey club as it clean, great staff and nice and quiet, its like a haven in there compared to the rest of vegas

We have booked the Tropicana for 5 nights from next Monday - part of a longer holiday elsewhere in the USA. Never been to Vegas before - really looking forward to it (apart from the flight - hate flying!)
Any tips on transfer from airport to hotel? I was going to get a taxi, how much should it cost and should the price be agreed at the airport?
If you are as tight fisted as me you can walk with a wheeled bag from LAS airport to the Trop in 38 mins.
