For Bargain hunters and Money savers there are several outlet malls close to the strip , where you can find large discounts on high street names. they all have similar names they are ,
Las Vegas premium outlet which is just north of the strip

Las Vegas outlet center which is south of Mandalay Bay
    http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=61
Las Vegas fashion outlet which despite it's address is a good 30-40 Min's drive south of the strip in Primm . you can ride one of the world's longest roller coaster's at Primm http://themeparks.about.com/cs/lasvegas/a/desperado.htm

to be honest on my last visit to the latter two i found pretty much the same shops in each, so you can probably just visit one . you can catch a bus to the las Vegas fashion outlet from the MGM grand for a small fee, and you will get a discount book for using this service. also don't forget to take advantage of the free coupons linked in the previous section if you plan on going shopping.

@photome........One addition I would make here is reference to the Hollister Outlet in Primm. Its nowhere else within hundreds of miles of Vegas AFAIK, and is the only reason I schlep out to Primm every time I go to Vegas. Plus is not dark, noisy and crowded like normal Hollisters......its well lit, and stuffed full of bargains eg Hoodies for $15, tops for $10. Usually some kind of promo going on at the same time as cheap prices eg 25% off store wide.

Can I ask what dates you've gone with as I'm struggling to find anything comparable.

Next trip for me is a solo one in March from 25th April 6th.
Have 12 days in total but thinking of driving to San Diego for a few days as this will be 5 in 5 years.

Any other ideas on stuff to do nearby, I've done Helicopter to GC and LA/San Fran.

    Sorry for late reply...

Dates are 9th August returning 26th August direct from Manchester.

I have to say was surprised that miles+ made such a difference as its normally about £80 pound cheaper so over £300 was a big bonus. Don't know if it was a pricing error as not seen it like that before or since and I play about with dates to compare.

just about the only game where the casino has no advantage is the game where it does not play against you...poker. most of the Main strip casinos have a poker room , where you can play for cash or enter tournaments . the casino does not offer this service for free , but rather charges rent in the form of rakes and fees. for anything related to poker in Las vegas see these sites.

Poker dealers are similar to cocktail waitresses in that they get paid minimum wage, and make their real money from tips.

In a cash game, you are expected to tip (depending on the size of the pot) from each winning hand - a dollar for a small pot of say $20 and maybe five bucks from a $200 pot. They get taxed on theoretical tips (similar to cocktail dolls) of maybe $30-$40 an hour, so would be rather annoyed if they paid full taxes on tips below that amount.

In a tournament, you would usually be offered a pre-game rebuy of an additional few thousand chips for maybe $5....this $5 is shared amongst the dealers in that game. Its also customary if you win the tourney to tip to the final table dealer depending on the size of your win, eg maybe $20 from a $750 win. Other cash places may tip smaller amounts.

Brits have a pretty poor reputation for tipping because we're not sure when or who to tip or how much. We're not used to occupations where tipping is an expected and necessary part of their income.
