Arrrrrgggggghhhh - is it me?

Honestly ..... everybody seems to be at it - trying to make up dog breeds .... In the past few days I've seen:

Boxnation
Jackawawwa
Poowawwa (I kid you not!)
Shorkie
Sprollie
Cockerpoo
Rollador
and several others I can't remember

Is it me? (am I getting old or something) What happened to just saying the dog's a cross?

Then we've got the 6 week old pups who are "great with kids and other pets" - how on earth would they know ......

Arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh

I did also see some gorgeous choc lab pups that I'm very tempted by .... but I don't want a pup..... (would love one tbh, but I can't have one)

It could be age, I'm thinking the same and I'm 47, if that is any help in a finely tuned, careful scientific piece of research:p.

Even worse, people then come out with...'I think I might let him/her have puppies'. Eh? So at best it'll be mostly one of the parents or just a plain old bitzer, not that there's anything wrong with a bitzer, I have one, but does no one tell them there are oodles of bitzers looking for homes already.:(

On a lighter note, my Ruby (Schnauzer) had a bit of a crush on Pulliptears' Jack ( Scottie). We had to make sure they never met as having Schnotties just did not sound good:rotfl:

Makes me mad too! It's because if they give it a fancy name they can charge more... whereas if they say crossbreed they virtually have to give it away!! Least attractive name I saw was a ShizPoo... grrr back street breeders!!
  • Nope - it is the craze for people to breed cross breeds and sell them for more money.

Partic faves, Puggles and Jugs! Pug cross Beagle and Pug cross JRT. A breeder said you need to be careful and not get sold a Jug as a Puggle as Puggles are worth more!

Recently a client was told they were buying a Tuxedo Jackeroo. It was a black and white small cross breed!
    NOT a NEWBIE!

    Was Greenmoneysaver. . .

There is nothing wrong with mongrels, they have been around for ages.

But breeding them now and giving them fancy names and getting masses of money for them from...... erm.... people - silly

All breeds were new at one point, pedigrees aren't and shouldn't be sacred!

I have nothing against breeding sensible crosses if the breeders are responsible, so do all the health checks required on both parents and have homes lined up for every vaccinated, socialised puppy.

The cutesy names are irritating though, and I have to wonder where all the poodles are that are producing these 'poo' crosses, you hardly ever see actual poodles out and about.

..but you know that, sad to say, the majority of them are 'my mate's got a dog to go with your b1tch, lives round the corner...' and the poor dogs have had less checks than you and I!

Or puppy farmers mostly, yeah sadly.

But then its just as bad when its pedigree dogs coming from that situation, its no better or worse when its crossbreeds.

I spent ages last year looking for a miniature poodle for a friend, she has an allergy so can't have a dog that sheds. The poodle crosses were selling for more than pedigree poodles and like everyone says, at the end of the day, they are what we used to call mongrels. I too have nothing against mongrels but certainly wouldn't pay £600 pounds or more for one.
