It's not really DFW progress, but I've just had my application accepted for the Great North Run! Game on, I'd better get training (and losing lb!).

On the other hand, another small payment made... new total is...

    £3,173.76/£16,136.77 (19.67%)

She has been contracting for 3.5 weeks now though. But as these are more painful I think it sounds very promising. She's gone for a bath to see if it calms down. Better than shopping like last time

Wow, this must be one of the fastest-running threads ever!! Only just got back into gear after New Year, and it's the 12th Jn already!! Where did that time go??

I've paid off my first amounts, £75.00 overdraft and £100.00 to Virgin CC. There may be more to add shortly, but for today #168: £175.00:j:j

Wow karenann wish I could get mine to do that. Which CA is it? I might try calling mine tonight.

It is Newmans. They knocked off £190 off a £705 debt straight away. I got a letter off Moorcrofts yesterday too. I offered them 500 of a 1200 debt and they wrote back saying they would take 920. I have written back offering 700 for full settlement. The collection agencies buy the debts for buttons so they can afford to negotiate. I haven't done it before so not sure of the thresholds they will accept so I am planning on offering them all about half of what we owe and see how it goes. If they all say yes we will be scuppered because I haven't got it to pay them all!

I know its my debt and I should pay it all off but at the same time most of the debts have been majorly inflated by charges and stupid interest added by the original lender. Eg. the mint card started on 8% and ended up on 27% when I started to have problems with it. Any reduction I can get frees up money for other payments getting me debt free that little bit quicker :j

I think if you have a debt with an agency you should try to negotiate and be cheeky! Pretend you are on holiday haggling at a market!!!!!

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(
