  • Kerri did you 'exaggerate' any of your outgoings? I'm tempted to call them now! I reckon if I get 6 months interest free, I could get a chunk paid off :) Fab news on your DFD!

I've been laid up most of the day with either a migraine or a severe headache :( MrS was woken up by me rooting for painkillers at 6.45, I was crying with the pain... luckily it went away a bit but came back with a vegeance when I was driving over to his at 4.30, I just managed to get some migralieve from the supermarket without passing out or vomiting in their pharmacy. Have spent the rest of the evening in bed :( Just annoyed that I didn't get to the PO to post ebay items! Ah well, less money spent I guess! It's also rather annoying each day I've set aside to try and do uni work, I've been laid up!

Not that I know of, I gave myself £100 for food, £100 petrol, £155 annual spends (insurance, car tax, mot, birthdays, contact lenses, xmas), £150 public transport, £811 rent, £466 wescott, £20 freemans, £20 vanquis, £26 vets insurance, £10 hsbc. Which left me about £90 according to the woman on the phone, although from my figures she's done it wrong. But it does mean everything is accounted for in my budget and I have to be strict with myself. I've even included mothers and fathers day presents.

Sorry you've been rough, I get migraines and they're horrid things. *hugs*

I'm going to go and check my budget before I call them.... trouble is I get paid different every month so total leftover varies. Always worth a try though! I'm not sure if they are migraines but I think today definitely was :(

  • Hi there,

I've been reading the thread tonight and would like to join. My OH and my LBM was a few years ago and we've managed to pay off a considerable amount of money mainly through inheritances. However, this past year we've found it a bit of a struggle as our commitment has flagged as there never seems to be an end to it and it's got us down a few times where we've said stuff it and spent loads of money and set ourselves further back.

I've kept a spreadsheet tallying all our debt payments with interest etc for a few years now, but today after reading this thread have decided to do a completely new one, although it has taken me most of the day it's worth it :o.

Anyway, new year new start and all that, and I think we are on track to be debt free (apart from my student loan and the house) by the middle of 2014, so only 2.5 years to go! Doesn't seem that long ago it was going to take 6 years, so I guess we're heading in the right direction.

So, total debt to be gone by July 2014 is £20230, which still seems like a lot! I'd like to aim for £6962.20 as our target to pay off by xmas 2012! This will start at the end of Jan when OH gets paid.
    £2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013
    DF by Xmas 2013 #027£841.28/£6000 (14.02%) 12/2
    DFD February 2015 £2,303.63/£19,520.26 (11.80%)

I've never run a half marathon, so 2:10 is about what I am aiming for actually! I'll see how my first one goes in May, got the Chester one - just aiming to finish that. You'll have to let me know how the training is going, my friend got turned down in the initial ballot so I'm running solo for the time being.

And the year after... the full marathon! :rotfl:

Karenann inspired me to call Wescott and Lloyds this evening to see about reductions in amount or freezing interest. I'm dead chuffed with myself.
Wescott have agreed to reduce my amount from £1760.50 down to £1400 which I can pay £466.66 each month for 3 months to clear.

Thats great Kerri! But....who came up with the figure? Is that what they offered you or did you tell them thats what you could afford? If they offered you that then they are still making a massive profit on what they bought the debt for. I would write to them and tell them that you have been through your figures and you were a bit hasty agreeing to £1400 and the most you can afford to pay off is £895 or something really low, then they will refuse and might say but we will take £???? which is likely to be lower than what they originally said. Its worth a punt! You might save another £200?!:D

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

I read somewhere else that they normally go down to 70% of the debt which is about £450 for 3 months, and as they weren't going to let me do it over 3 months they wanted the money straight away and I got her to ask a manager I'm going to stick with that I think. I did miss a payment with them and was late with another one. I hear what you're saying though :)
