Do you mean Idris you're not really the dragon from llaniog? I had visions of a little red dragon typing away at a computer in my head, hee hee! You sound fairly famous though.Be careful, pyschopathbabble, car boots can become addictive. DH used to do them every Sunday, in the end he had little to sell so his relatives would pile junk onto him to sell.
  • I can't be doing with getting up at 6am to stand in the freezing cold so don't worry, little risk of addiction :)

So proud of myself, went to waitrose and only bought the potatoes, milk and bread I went in for  (ok the bread was actually reduced rolls as they have run out of my bread AGAIN  but hubby be pleased he prefers rolls :rotfl: great big baps they are for a measley 59p :D) walked right past the reduced meat counter, reduced cake counter and didnt even go down the christmas aisle to see if they had anything reduced that I might waste my money on for no reason

Afternoon ladies and gents, second day curry tastes soooo yummy! Avoided the farmers market, stayed in the office :) My manager has admitted he was shocked by my resignation as he didn't see it coming hahaha. OH has said if I can't afford to visit him in Canada then that's fine :) He knows how much I'm trying to get debt free and the sacrifices of chocolate that I'm making hahaha

Welcome to all the new people, there's so many of us now!

Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.
  • Hi all!

I called up a collection agency today to try to get something sorted about the balance of my Mint card (£705!) and obviously he asked me if I had called to make a full payment on this very urgent matter! I explained that I had not! So he said he would be happy to make arrangements for me to pay over 2 installments and was I happy to do that? I said I wasn't. Then he knocked £190 off the balance straight away! I never even asked for a reduction! I was planning on writing to them to try and get a bit knocked off but I didn't even ask....he also said they would accept it over 3 payments of £176. He got a bit of a weed on when I said I would write to him and let him know but I want it in writing that it will be in full and final settlement of the debt and that they wont sell the balance on to another debt collector.

I will be writing to them today to offer them about half just to try my luck!

Anyway....has anyone else tried negotiating debts down? And how successful have you been? If you haven't it might be worth a try!!!! I think this only works with collection agencies though.

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(
