Hello all!MSE still all skew whiffy at work and just haven't had the time in the evenings to log on. Trying desperately to exercise in an evening to beat DH at our weight loss challenge.Jakes mum - so pleased to hear DH had a job, might ween him off that computer game too.Idris - congrats on the weight loss and Vanquis loss.Kerri - hope you're feeling cheerier today. I've started a secret Weight loss blog, will def try and start some sort of spending diary - maybe I should adapt my finance spreadsheet to include EVERYTHING I buy.Supakarin - we all take different sized steps to get to the finish line, doesn't matter how fast you get there, only that you get there.rdchick - every little payment gets you there however slowly. I can't manage to pay my debts as often as I'd like to.pyschopathbabble - it's a big step moving in with OH but if you're serious, may as well see if you can live together. I must confess I misread your name and thought you were called pyschobathbubble, oh dear, I may have to go to $pec$aver$Very busy at work, spent most of my lunch hour catching up on this thread, better get back to work I guess.Keep debtbusting xxx

WOW, Haven't been on since the weekend and the pages have literally DOUBLED! Thanks to all those with the dietry advise back on page 20, it's appreciated.

:jWell, I've finally managed it - I've cleared our Bank Loan 13 months early, freeing up over £260 pcm in the process :j Can't believe it stayed intact in the bank over Christmas tbh!

so... I've paid £3205.62 so far this month taking my total to

    #93 4010.62/20120.00 19.93%:T:j

That was however my swan song so it'll be back to slow and steady after this month, I'm hoping for £1000 a month off the cards plus maybe a little boost every now and then if I can afford it which means I should beat my target of £15,000.

Don't know when I'll manage to catch up with the posts so hugs to those who need them and congrats to all those who've managed payments....also welcome to all our newbies (of which I'm sure they'll be many)

    Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2023 #59 £7008 Paid £570 Owing £6438 #1 H1 £151, #2 H2 £100, #3 O £200, #4 M £1500, #5 Z £295, #6 C1 £340, #7 L £1084, #8 N £840, #9 C2 £1930
  • #269 Please take £28 off my total of £15,978.54

Its the minimum payment from one of the CCs. I do pay more than the minimum each month but always make sure that the minimum payment is taken by direct debit so I don't have any late payment costs. I will pay more off on Friday as its payday.

I feel so much more in control having read these posts. Things are going to be tough for the next couple of years but through our own doing. The loan we have is a 10 year one but we can pay it off as quickly as we like (saving interest) so have given ourselves 2 years to do it. We would rather find things tight for 2 years than have the loan hanging over our heads for the next 10 years.

    Plea for advice...

DH got hit in rear of car and looks like its a write off. Does anyone have advice, or where to look for advice:

    1. where to get a reliable second hand car?(we can travel to get one if cheaper in certain parts of country)

    2. How to pay for it in cheapest way?

    3. Is hiring better than buying?

Not sure what we can afford just yet but not looking to pay more than £2500

    Thanks in advance

I'm not very good with cars, but there is a car section on the forum, where there might be some people who are much more knowledgeable:

For those that remember I'm using my survey points to get my OH a kindler. I've so far made £88 in am@zon vouchers how awesome is that. Although the kindler he wants is £149 grrr. Why couldn't he chose the £89 one, another £5 voucher soon from SB too :)
