For anyone not knowing where to start with their debts and feeling a bit lost try snowballing. I've done it this evening and it's quite enlightening how much can be saved in interest by paying in the right order

Total paid to me after paypal's cut £150. Total Ebay fees, £25. Total postage £25. Total stuff I bought on Ebay while I was sat waiting for listings to end *cough* £60.
Total profit for two days work -£40. *sigh* So very pointless.
Not pointless - you got 'stuff' :T :rotfl:
Jakes_Mum, I'm really pleased your DH has got a job, it doesn't matter that it's temporary, I'm sure the new job will boost his confidence and that's priceless. :T
atlonglast - welcome to the crowd, enjoy the banter.
Kerri-dfw - I was sorry to hear that your day started off pants, but now that I've caught up with the thread you seem to have had a better day afterall. I'd forgotten that you'd told me your OH is coming to Canada, when does he fly? My daughter is going over to the UK for some jollies in March she's booked her flights and they've cost $654.18 (incl all taxes and credit card transaction), approx 408.00gbp. Being apart is hard, my hubby was here for 6 months before I came over, we saw each other after 3 months and then again after 6 months, it was the first time we'd had any significant time apart since we'd got married 22 years ago. I think I'm with psychopathbubble on this one, this visit will be memory-making stuff, and not only will you be spending time with your OH, you'll also be experiencing Canada :T
ETA: Got carried away with the chat I forgot what I was doing................
Another 80.01gbp paid off so now the total for

Some good news from eBay... had someone offer me £50 for something that I hadn't listed (it's not rude in the slightest but can't say what as it might get me into trouble!).
This morning MrS was running late for work, really late, and muttered something about not making his lunch... I told him to go into the kitchen where his lunch was all laid out and a note left for him. I knew he wouldn't have time so I made his lunch last night without telling him! He called me the best GF in the world and then said maybe when his flatmate moves out in April we should think about me moving in!!!! I've never got as far as living with a guy before so slightly apprehensive and I didn't realise I could be a commitment-phobe until now I've got time to think about it, not really sure whether I want to as it involves moving 30 minutes away from where I am now.... that is fine except I'll see even less of my friends than I do now! Hmmm.... need to do some thinking I reckon.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Well, I've long been a fan of the Snowball Calculator to help me with quick interest and payment calculations, but I just decided to take a look at how long it would take me to pay my debts if I made only minimum payments.
Rather than being debt free by November 2012 and paying a total of £1,171 in interest (as planned with overpayments), it would...
...take until September 2056
and cost £13,445 in interest :eek:
So glad to be doing it this way :T:T:jDebt Free By Xmas 2013 #010 £16,660.26/£16,660.26 100% paid, DFD 25/06/13!:j0 -

Think like an MSEr.... shared food shopping bills, no more petrol between yours and his place, shared bills. You will probably find you still see your friends just as much as you'll want to get some time to yourself. I actually saw more of my friends when the OH moved in for 3 months over the summer as I wanted some "me time" hehe. Big step though.
Wow helenpie that's epic! There's a reason to not pay minimum payments. Did you put in the amount you can afford to pay at the top?
Ooh just to note I'm now at my next mini-milestone less than £3800 in debt yayHere's hoping to getting this below £3.5k on payday
