Thanks Guys,
I really wanted to go out and celebrate but have controlled myself.
HisMissus I hope you get your ppi sorted soon - makes you wonder if it's a convenient mistake.
Gemred The main thing I did was find a way of budgetting which worked for me - quite a task when both myself and dh are self employed, I then realised that actually using this system of envelopes I could save up - it's taken me five months to save up enough to pay off the bank loan because they wouldn't take partial payments and they wasn't any discount for paying early. I'll pm you the system if you like? I'm aiming at £1000 pcm if I can but we'll have to see how that pans out.
Dorset Girl Thank you and congrats on paying the CC off, you're doing so well!
Jake's Mum Fantastic news about DH's job - you must be thrilled :j
Kerri Wow - I thought I was doing well with £15 of SB's lol Do you not sleep at night? :rotfl:
Supakarin Sorry to hear you've been feeling down - January is a hard month for everyone. I think we all wish we could make bigger payments and get rid of the debt ball and chain sooner but you'll get there and so will we and even if we're not debt free by Christmas we'll be so much closer to our target and we'll have a huge circle of virtual friends as well :T
Oh spent £25 on food last week - not too bad and this week should be about the same :A...well, maybe0 -
I didnt do very well with last weeks challenge. My 5 year old has a very odd diet and so although I managed to only buy bread, milks and apples for the 5 of us, I did have to stock up on his stuff which cost another £30. Its much better than it used to be when he only used to eat blueberries, cheese and bread-sticks

Well done Jemma (mf0u1098) I see Martin has put you on the weekly newsletter, as one of the forum threads making a difference to people trying to save money.
I for one I'm so pleased this thread was created and if it wasn't for Jemma I'd probably be still spending on my CC instead I'm paying money off my CC. Thanks for your thread and support Jemma and well done on keeping this thread going.I will stop spending on things I don't need

Hi all
I have returned from the deepest, darkest depths of "bonus work but not overtime as we don't offer that only bonus work and pay" :rotfl:
No debts paid off since last time, but for the first time ever I've not taken out a payday loan in January! I seriously need to look into whether there is an option to opt out of the "helpful" 2 week early payment at work! 6 weeks without any wages is a loooooong time!
Hopefully in this month's pay I'll have an extra £560 (minus tax and student loan) plus whatever extra I manage to get this week. Am hoping to pay off the only 2 interest suckers I have which would free up £163 per month. If I could do that this month and be poor for February that'd be great...especially as I go on holiday for 10 days in March!
Does anyone know roughly what percentage the student loans company take per month once you're earning over the threshold? I've included their £17,000 in my total debt so any money they take is paying something back, but I'd prefer to have the option of paying in the order I think would benefit me most, i.e. Student Loan last!!Deleting everything to make sure MoneySupermarket don't get any of my personal details to sell to following Martin's sell out move :money:0 -
Oooh newsletter again!! (I'm not imagining we were in it a few weeks ago am I?)
Anyway hello again DFW-ersNot much progress been made today (stupid work getting in the way) but I've checked my bank (dire), had a NSD, checked Quidco and am due a payment on the 15th of January - brace yourself debt-busters, this will rock your socks...
£1.51!!!:rotfl:
What ever will I spend all of that money on?!?
Well done to everyone still making payments this far into the month - I know it's only the 10th but I can hardly even remember last payday!
Checked my ebay auctions today - 1 item with bids - £27 so far :T0 -

I should clarify that only £15 is SB but that's since Jakes-mum mentioned it in December mostly from surveys. £30 was GTM, and £25 from mysurvey the rest from TCB
Had an awesome evening tonight, went rock climbing with work and I have 4 rope burns on my hands, nevermind it was fun. They even bought me 2 lemonades in the pub after and made me put away my change. I hate not being able to buy my own drink grrr (not being sarcastic either) but it was as way of saying thank you from the guys that were novices. There were 3 of us that had climbing experience so we could supervise 6 people between us, without us the others couldn't have good. A great time was had by all and we shared nachos after
I'm just setting up my 2nd purse as I write this trying to find out single item prices for things I've bought in bulk before Christmas from Am@zonia. Then I shall get about paying myself for using themI got this idea from the grocery challenge thread and it sounds awesome.
I still have about £4 left in my purse for this week, which I'm happy with and won't need to buy anything except maybe lunch tomorrow as got back too late to make anything and I think the leek & potato soup is a bit dodgy (froze it after 4 days in fridge, defrosted 2 weeks later, been in fridge 2 days now).
Well done to everyone that's made debt payments today and to everyone else that's cutting back on their spending. Remember just because you don't make a payment today, doesn't mean you're not making a difference to your life by changing your spending habits.
