I am a bit taken aback by some of th posts on here and they actually stop me replying at times :( The worst thing was that I totally understood what the OP was doing and it was perfectly normal to me :rotfl:

She was buying packs of choc bars and charging her family when they took one, so instead of the SM getting the profit, the family did. Classic second pursing as far as I was concerned, but the replies branded it 'stupid' and 'rediculous' and there was comments like 'oh do you charge them for their dinner too?' etc etc.

They were just really condesending about something that was frankly none of their business without the slightest thought that maybe it was the only way she could afford to bring treats into the house :(

Just made me feel really :( for her

And surely a really good way to teach children about the value of money and budgeting. Something that all of us that are in debt would want our children to learn, no doubt.

I've been very fortunate never to have had a bad experience here but have read some shocking things. I try and stay on OS and DF boards where everyone seems friendly :)

Welcome back and well done idristhedragon

AH no sunshine down here in Angelbob's world  I've been missing from here for awhile so prepare for my RANT. Sorry skip if I bore you:
Well I've had a horrible day today, long story but two years ago, I had my ex partner arrested for domestic violence (i put up with that for way too long, I know I was an idiot but it is hard when you're in that situation) so he had too move out (bail conditions), this is his morgaged house, not mine, so I have no rights. Well I went to the council for help with re-housing, went on the list, band 2 (second highest band around here) blah blah, bidded, waited.

In the meantime my ex got new girlfriend and moved in with her, so was ok with me and the kids staying until i found somewhere else. As I rely on some housing benefit and had bad credit (ex ran up loads of debts in my name, not just the ones in my sig, which I've cleared now) I couldn't find anything decent private renting. So council was my best option :(

Fast forward two years later, I'm at the top of housing list (feedback score top 6-10 or first 5:T) feel so much happier and first time in years so confident, kids are doing well, sorted out finances etc and i've started internet dating (although my last date was really nice until after he said he couldn't deal with the fact I have kids  he knew before he met me)

So today had an appointment with housing officer, so hoping for good news, but NO I was being moved down bands to band 5 (no housing needs) !!!!!! now no chance of any help from them, I started crying, he was shouting at me, I was swearing at him and stormed out.

To make it worse I got home to a letter saying I've been overpaid child tax credit AGAIN (how does this keep happening, I tell them everything) So thats another £268 to pay.
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So this years plan, save money for deposit and rent in advance about £1500 around here and rent private, at least in June all my old debts drop off my credit file, so it might help.
Sorry again to rant, just needed to air them xx

Hi all, sorry to hear about the misbehaving OHs. For some reason mine is being extremely understanding about my obsessive frugal ways, which is really helping.

My first big test came today, Foo Fighters at the REading Festival. Saw them 3 times last year.:heartpuls Just love 'em. But no, no, no, I will not spend money I do not have!

Off to make some choc chip cookies and listen to loud music to cheer myself up! Although am feeling strangely proud of myself.:D

I have done quite a few festivals as a steward. There are lots of different groups eg oxfam but I was with green stewards. You get in free and have to do about 3x 6 hour shifts and get some food too. Feels good to be a part of the festival :D
